Updating from Kontakt 2 to Kontakt 7?

I have some old songs that were made on Kontakt 2. Unfortunately, I updated to Windows 11 and the activation thinks that I am on new hardware, and I can't activate Kontakt 2. On the activation site it states I can activate using Native Access, but that isn't possible.


If I update from Kontakt 2 to Kontakt 7, will it retain my previous settings? I am using Cakewalk Sonar & Bandlab Cakewalk for the projects.

    As for the Kontakt Update, it won't.

    But here is what you can do.

    You can just screenshot the projects where you used Kontakt 2 so that you know which instruments you need to load foe K7.

    If not, then try to pick the instruments by ear with listening to your tracks (if you hear guitar, drums, certain synths, then open couple of Kontakt 7 tracks and pick the closest sounding indtrument you can).

    These are my best possible solutions.

    There is no way to screenshot as the patches aren't loading correctly. They are loading in Demo mode.

    You mean, K7 demo or K2 demo?

    The whole thing is about Kontak 2. When I open these projects in Sonar, since Kontak 2 is running in demo mode, it won't load none of the existing settings.

    When Kontakt 2 is in demo mode Total Recall is disabled.

    I have Kontakt 2, when I updated to Windows 11, it said hardware changed and forced me to reactivate. Since, I can't reactivate due to Service Center being discontinued, the only option is Demo mode. Well, Demo mode doesn't Total Recall anything while in Demo mode.

    I'm trying to get my existing projects loaded, if I can get them loaded I possibly can go to newer version.

    I am asking if Kontakt 7 will read my existing sessions which originated in Kontakt 2.

    @shaheedmalik Unfortunately Kontakt 2 can't be activated anymore. Auto migration of Kontakt instruments is only possible on a few DAWs, and on Windows, it's only starting from Kontakt 3: Notes about Auto-Migration of Kontakt Versions in DAW Projects
