S88 MK2 Touchstrip constantly sending data

Hi,

I've just bought a (new) S88 mk2 but there is an issue with the touchstrip constantly sending expression midi data changes without being touched - if I play a few notes it records the midi note values fine, but the expression is constantly changing value very quickly, ranging from about 60 to 127. Like, really rapidly!

No clue where to start with diagnosing this, I don't know if its a hardware, firmware or software problem. The S88 is on v6 of the firmware, and I read somewhere that that update was purely to do with how the touchstrip handles data?

I can speak to the dealer, but thought I would ask here if anyone has experienced this before or has an idea what the issue might be?

Any help appreciated

Thanks, Tony

@TonyW237 That definitely sounds like a hardware issue. There's no pedal plugged in the keyboard? You can check the MIDI input of the keyboard: How to Monitor the Input of a MIDI Controller If there is MIDI information, even when you are not touching the keyboard at all, then it's clearly a hardware default and you should talk to the dealer.

Thanks Jeremy, there is no external controller plugged in. I’ve tried it inside the daw and with stand-alone instruments and the CC11 issue is persistent. I will run the MIDI check program you recommended, but I think you’re probably correct about it being a hardware fault. Very disappointing, as it will be extremely difficult for me to return it to the dealer who is the other end of the country.
