Kontakt as an FX plugin?

Hello folks, can't we use Kontakt 7 not as an instrument but an fx plugin? I'm using Ableton Live and I see one Kontakt 7 plugin in my plugins folder, which can only be loaded on a MIDI track as an instrument. You can't put it on an audio track. I remember there used to be a separate Kontakt Fx plugin for the earlier versions. Did NI drop this functionality or am I missing something?

I don’t recall a Kontakt fx plugin but maybe that’s my memory at fault :)

tbh I think pretty much all the fx in Kontakt are available either as NI plugins like Replika or in Guitar Rig anyway. In many respects Guitar Rig is more of a NI FX rack than just an amp/stomp collection these days

If you go to the main NI web site and Product then Software & Sounds, you'll see a header that says 'Effects". Those are all the effects based plugins such as Guitar Rig and the Ozone pieces and things like Raum and Supercharger. in Ableton if you have the Browser active you'll see them listed separately from Kontakt7 under the Native Instruments header. You just drag and drop them into your normal effects chain at the bottom of the screen for that track.

Kontakt is a separate plugin that hosts the virtual instruments.

Well it may be my distorted memory :) Like FM8 Fx and Reaktor Fx, I thought there used to be a Kontakt Fx. Anyway what I was trying to do is: I made nice a drum kit in Drum Lab but I didn't like the crash cymbal, so I picked a crash from Ableton's drum packs. But other than the crash, everything sends to a nice warm plate verb in Drum Lab which sounds really good. I was looking for a way to send the Ableton pack crash to the plate verb in Drum Lab so it doesn't sound "outside" of the kit. I'll check guitar rig, maybe I can find a similar plate verb there. Thank you folks.
