As the title says...

Is my Kontakt 4 factory library still usable with Kontakt 7?

I assume that at least Kontakt 6 can read my K4 library because these are only 2 generations apart and NI treats them as generation-related.

If I need Kontakt 6, is this version included in Komplete 14 Standard which I am probably buying?

Do you use Kontakt 7 Full version or the Player version?

As for the usage of factory library from 4th Kontakt, idk, experiment with it.

I am likely going to buy Komplete 14 Standard, this should come with Kontakt 7 full version.

What about Kontakt 6, will I be able to get that version with Komplete 14?

I got one answer in another thread (not from me):

"You should be able to reinstall Kontakt 6 from Native Access. It shows as Kontakt, without a number."

This settles one of my questions.

But does anybody exist using Kontakt 7 with the factory library of Kontakt 4?

I don't have it installed but I am using Kontakt patches like Soniccouture's Abstrakt instruments and Scriptorium that go back to Kontakt 2 and 3 so I think they should load OK.

However, the Kontakt 4 factory library seems to me to be a different beast altogether?

Soniccouture might be irrelevant here, or?

What is your experience or further opinion?

Shouldn't be. As long as you have them installed and licensed I don't see why they should not open, Kontakt is meant to be backwards compatible all the say to version 1
