3rd Party libraries showing up as simply "Kontakt" in User Presets.
I've been trying to add 3rd party libraries that don't show up in the main browser. When I do, instead of getting a grey tile with the name of the folder, like "Spitfire Solo Strings" the library is there but is called "Kontakt" and has the factory library image. I've checked and the correct samples are there. I've now found this with several libraries.
I've done this in standalone as I know that's best for this kind of thing.
I don't seem to be able to edit the tiles to change the name? I'm on Windows 11.

Maybe you shouls make a desktop folder specificaly for 3rd party instruments.
I did it, and it helped.
Put all the 3rd party instruments in that folder, then open Kontakt 7 with the OG Rack view, go to the Files, then Desktop, and then find the name of the folder specificaly for 3rd that you just created.

Did you add this 3rd party library to Kontakt 7 by using the „Import content — custom libraries“ function which you can find at the left bottom side in KT7‘s „Library View“? If yes, did you then select the correct main folder where your library is located? For such 3rd party libraries based on Kontakt it’s always best if they reside somewhere outside of NI’s „standard“ content folder. Under normal circumstances your product should be added by using the name of your product’s main folder. Can you check?

hi, I used "Import Content - User Presets". I've just tried it and imported to "Custom Libraries". I've tried something outside of the F:/Kontakt Libraries folder, F/Spitfire Audio/Henson's Frozen Strings. It has imported it as a grey tile but it's been called "Instruments" rather than Henson's Frozen Strings. ...
These are really old libraries..do I need to do the batch resave to get them to show up properly?

No, I think batch re-saving seems to have nothing to do with your problem. After all, you reported already that you can see your library files (NKI) inside K7. That’s already a good sign. Please choose one hierarchy higher than „samples, instruments, resources“ etc. to be your product folder to be imported. These keywords like „instruments, documentation“ etc. are used by Kontakt. In your case try to choose the folder you mentioned above instead, „…/Henson‘s Frozen Strings“. But remove your previously imported „instruments“ folder first from the K7 import list before retrying it with the new one.
Edit: One additional thing came to my mind, as I had a similar problem before:
Kontakt, Komplete Kontrol & Co don’t really like apostrophes like „ ‘ „. If nothing works, try to rename the product’s main folder so that it doesn’t contain such special characters.

hi, I probably picked a bad example..most of the libraries that I tried didn't have an apostophe.
I got alot of libraries that while they showed up in the instrument selector view under files, threw up errors when I tried to import them. Those errors went away when I did a batch resave.
I have since found that I needed to import into the custom browser first. Then delete from that. Only then can I import into the user preset area. I've got some that have now imported with the correct name. Tomorrow I'll see if I can work out what it was that it didn't like about Spitfire Audio solo strings so that I ended up with the folder being called "Instruments v2"..which is a folder within the one I imported.
but thanks for your reply, you saying it should go into the custom browser got the things imported without being called Kontakt

In fact, you don’t even need K7’s “user area” for that purpose; the custom library will be enough to import your 3rd party Kontakt product. The good thing with this “K7 import” method is that you can later even apply your own product images to these libraries which I also did for all of my own imported KT-based products. They will then even show up in Komplete Kontrol as separate products (if a few steps more will be performed in the correct way); they will even be displayed in the „loops“ and „one-shot“ areas along with the proper product icon, in case the product included unencrypted WAVs (which is very common for legacy products).

I've kept the user area for a specific set of small libraries. I've had no luck trying to import images but it might be an issue of the .png size. I may look at it again but it's not a big deal for me.

Sorry but I would not recommend putting sample libraries on the desktop, especially not on Macs (which is an iCloud location which slows everything down)

Have you tried editing the 'alias' for your libraries in the import options panel? Once you have set an alias you can also add a custom image by creating a folder with the same name as the alias in NI Resources/Image and adding a 134x66 pixel png

hi, thanks for the size info. I may try that later.
