White Screen /Unresponsive Kontrol S Mk3 during firmware upgrade
Answers

My S49mk3 wouldn't go beyond the "Register Serial Number" screen until I plugged in a Samsung phone charger with it's own cable. The hoops I had to jump through to get this result took ages. Trying all the ports, different cables, power supplies, chargers etc
However, It did go no problem with my laptop, and now (with the Samsung charger and cable) with my desktop.

You can try this one, but if it works then think very seriously before attempting another update of firmware (PSU , cables maybe even an USB-C hub).
Some people have had to do the below exercise a couple of times to get it right.
Power cycle the keyboard 5 times. At the 5th time, the recovery screen should appear and you can re-update the controller. In order to power cycle, turn on the device, wait 2-3 seconds and then turn it off again. Please repeat this 5 times.

This dont work at all, I read all advices...tried it, nothing.

Sorry about that. Then your only alternative I think is to get the keyboard swapped or repaired by seller.

Update! Today i tried with 3A usb to C to A cable, and it updated, screen is ON. I presume that is very important to have HQ cables for this one.

Thank you for the update and for coming back and sharing.
Yes , quality cables matters. However there are more under laying problems in play here. Both there are more specification standards for each type of USB port and that goes for both A and C type and also not all manufacturers adheres to the standards. Sort of the same thing as with HDMI that has come in 5-7 specifications between 1 and 2.1 and you have all those cable that doesn't say what they support. Only the newest cables and those adhering to specifications will work best unless the port you use happens to fit the cable and at same time is OK with/for device which will generate a number seemingly conflicting experiences. And from what we have been told then there is also a lot problems with , in this case, USB-C chips sets and/or? drivers not adhering to specifications which gives reason to a huge array of problems other than the cables.. But I did mention cables as something to be aware of in my first post to you.

I see that you reached out to support, someone should get back to you soon. In the meantime, please try the following:
Power cycle off and on the unit 5 times within 10 seconds and then go through this:
Kontrol S-Series MK3 Troubleshooting Guide
And more precisely this part: Kontrol S-Series MK3: Avoiding Connection Issues by Using the Right USB-C Hubs and Cables
Please try other usb slots on your computer, through a USB hub.

Thank you for the tips of using different cables!!! For me that did the trick!
After a failed firmware update, the S88 MK3 had a BLANK screen, firmware updater (windows) showing "current version 0.0.1".
Everytime I tried I got Error -2.
I assumed that I bricked the keyboard.
To get the update to work I hooked my samsung travel USB-C power supply to the power inlet on the keyboard and a USB-A to USB-C cable to the back of the PC, é voila. Suddenly it did work!
Never suspected this to be the solution.
Never had any problem in the past with the original USB-C cable hooked directly to the PC.
I was stuck for half a day reading tips on the internet and was on the verge of loading the keyboard in the car and go for a long drive to the store. I was a little frustrated to say the least.
This page gave me the sollution I was desperately searching for.
So, I wanted to express my thanks and confirm for others that this in fact may be your sollution!!
I can only assume that NI and vendors get overloaded with "support" questions and frustration everytime they introduce a firmware update.0 -
For Mac people:
Plugging to external power AND changing the port applies to you as well. I couldn't got any progress until I switched to left-hand USBC port.0 -
There is a lot of interesting advices in here… I tried them all - a lot of times… I'm still see only White Screen.
Could you send some link to products, which you used, like:
- external power supply (cable, adapter etc.)
- usb hub
I have MacBook pro with Apple M2 Pro chip and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 (I don't have usb-A port in my MAcBook).
I've tried witho NO RESULTS:
- with all ports in my laptop (with switched off or plug-off other devices)
- through HUB (uni USB C Hub, 8-in-1 USB Type C Multiport Hub, 4K @60Hz HDMI, 1-Gbps LAN, 100W PD, 5 Gbps USB 3.0")
- trough external power supply
- by reset etc.
I have Machine MK3 and it works. I would like to connect BabyFace Pro FS too and integrate all of them through Logic Pro… but I would like to try my NIKKMK3 as first ;(
Please, help.

I've tried with another cable USB-C>USB-C (30V) and it worked. Probably S88 have bigger power needs.
The next step - integration with other devices and DAW 🤔
