sticky E key that shifts place when shifting octave

Hi, I've got a key that feels like a sticky key in the keyboard (needing to press harder, for instance, or keeps playing after pressing).

But its not the hardware as the behaviour goes on to another E key after I shift octave, either up or down....

Does someone know what this might relate to ?

So what OS and what DAW (if in a DAW)?

Have you (or are you) tested in Komplete Kontrol standalone software?

If this is in a DAW (unmentioned) then check if you may have any mapped midi messages for anything. Also, post a screenshot of the MIDI preference if it is a DAW but first confirm in standalone KK as that will rule out anything to do with mapping. The fact it shifts with octave shift to the new key position certainly rules out a hardware issue and seems likely some confusion with a MIDI message

Thanks for your reply. It is in Logic 10.7.1 in Rosetta mode, running in a M1 mac mini.

    The keyboard is S61 Mk2

I do not have a standalone Komplete Kontrol software, how could I get this and test?

There is no KK application in my Native Intruments folder...

My midi settings are below. Many thanks for your kind advice!

I must mention all is up to date in Native Access

I dont use Logic, also only touch my mac if it is needed so i'm not of much use here but the standalone KK software should have been installed if you are using the keyboard in Logic already. In Native Access you should find the "Komplete Kontrol" software and if it is installed, just do a spotlight search for "Komplete Kontrol" and it has the software for the keyboard you can run outside a DAW. Always use that as a test bed to rule out hardware issues.

If everything works fine there then possibly something in Logic is setup incorrectly is all I can really say.

@raulc There are so many possibilities for MIDI in Logic, it happens quite often that settings are changed by accident.

First thing we need to check is if the same thing happens in Komplete Kontrol in standalone. The Komplete Kontrol application has to be installed somewhere on your computer, otherwise nothing would work. It should be in: Mac HD/Applications/Native Instruments/Komplete Kontrol. If it's not there, check what installation locations you have chosen for the application (we really recommend to leave the default location for the applications).

Once you found the standalone application, open it and check if you have the same issue with this E key. If it's only happening in Logic, then it's definitely a setting in Logic. You can either try and find the wrong setting, which can be quite a process in Logic or simply delete the user preferences and put Logic to it's default settings.

Delete the Logic Pro PLIST file

    1. In Logic Pro, note any custom preference settings that you’ve made, and save any custom key commands that you've created
    2. Quit Logic Pro.
    3. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
    4. Enter ~/Library/Preferences, then click Go.
    5. Remove the "com.apple.logic10.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
    6. If you upgraded from Logic 9 or earlier to Logic Pro, also remove the "com.apple.logic.pro" file.
    7. Restart your Mac.

After deleting the PLIST file, open your project and try to reproduce the issue that you were experiencing. If the issue no longer occurs, choose Logic Pro > Settings (or Preferences), reapply your custom settings, and import your custom key commands.

THis step is taken from this Apple troubleshooting guide.

@raulc Any update on the issue? Do you still need help?

    Thanks Jeremy,

I kept the default location without change when installing but having searched everywhere, I cannot see any standalone application for Komplete Kontrol, anywhere in the HD. The screenshots show what there is. I dont u se any other storage. Can we jump on a call to get help finding this? I have not been able to test or move forward for this reason.

@raulc I'm sorry but I don't jump on calls. I can create a ticket for you and a colleague can try to help you out, that will be by email. There has to be a Komplete Kontrol standalone application on your computer or else the plug-in would not work at all.
