NI's new solution to scalable GUI is revealed...

The new MK3 keyboards have revealed a smart solution to giving scalable GUI for the desktop versions of Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt.

The display on the new MK3 reveals a simplified "Banner View" of NKS2 -ready instruments with parameter mapping presented in functional groups.

This Banner View" should be carried over to the desktop versions of Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt as what is the first presentation of an instrument after clicking on a preset while browsing. It has standardized dimensions and could easily be made scalable on the desktop GUI.

Here's an example:

When you want to do deeper editing beyond the grouped parameters... you could enter a "legacy mode" to see the old non-scalable view of the instrument.

So for browsing and performing with light editing... all could be made scalable as fast as NKS2 is brought to an instrument.

And this would bring benefits of NKS2 to those who purchased older versions of NI keyboards. The benefit won't show up on the older keyboard displays.. but the desktop GUI will bring this new NKS2 technology to many more people.

And even those with just an A-series keyboard could enjoy the benefits of NKS2-ready plugins!

NI. Please bring this NKS2 "Banner View" to the desktop software as soon as possible.

It will ease the pain for those who can't buy an new MK3 keyboard and bring the much-requested scalable GUI for more of our daily usage.

    Well, I've been pushing for at "interim" instrument view as a solution for scalable GUI for some time now..

    But c'mon man, let them actually release the damn thing before the demands start at least, you will have plenty of time after to formulate your long list of requests again...

    Thing is that view has always been in KK, without the banner, but that doesn't in itself make it scalable (just potentially - but really there is nothing technically holding NI back from making it scalable anyway)

    This new, improved NKS2 "Banner View" is gonna be happening full speed.. might as well make it scalable and the default part of Desktop user interface at the same time..

    I would not be surprise if that is planned.

    Why not spread the NKS2 efforts as wide as possible?

    The banner itself is just a small bitmap so not scalable - the scalable parts are the parts that are already in KK (ie the rendering of mapped params) and so far NI have not made them scalable. I wish they would too but we don't know what the new KK can or can't do yet so what is happening at 'full speed' is anyone's guess.

    The standardized dimension is a big plus too.

    Currently browsing in KK or Kontakt is such a random jumping in window sizes it is a poor user experience in how the eye tries to follow objects between jumps
