Why can't I set a port in Kontakt 7?

Hi frens. I'm going insane with this and need some help. I have my Alesis Nitro Mesh kit correctly setup in Studio One as a MIDI device, and it worked fine using other plugins. When I try to use GGD through Kontakt 7, the device status is off. No matter how many times I try to set it to port A, nothing changes. Output status is also off and changing it to on doesn't do anything

Am I missing something obvious here? The device is linked via MIDI to USB straight to my laptop as the audio interface doesn't have a USB input.

Many thanks in advance!

I think that Windows won't allow two independent programs to share a MIDI port. To test this, try closing your DAW before you assign the MIDI in your Kontakt standalone.

Update: I've tried using a different device (A MIDI app via my Galaxy Tab). Again it is set up correctly in the DAW, but I can't assign a port in Kontakt

I have exactly the same problem but this solution doesn't work for me ie even with no DAW running I cannot select a Port A,B,C,D.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
