Loading time Kontakt 7

Windows 10 - Cubase 12 pro - NI 14 Ultimate CE


When starting my PC and creating a new song in Cubase - The first time I select Kontakt7 its taking a very long time untill the Kontakt screen appears. But only the first time after starting my PC ánd starting a new song. After that, every new track starts very fast ?

What causes this please?

    I have Kontakt 7 installed on a very fast Samsung 970 NVMe drive AND it is on my Defender exception list - and it still takes 7-10 secs to open.

    That is not the issue.

    Hello,

    maybe first time you start kontakt it needs to start the big database with all the presets and stuff. Never noticed it on my PC with win 11, cubase 12 but will try later on my system.

    I never noticed it before either Uwe, it started recently.

    Did you allready day try it on your pc ?

    If I open a new track with Kontakt 7 vst3 it's there after 1 or 2 seconds, after that adding kontakt, kontakt is right there after clicking "add track". So there is a difference. I have a Ryzen 7 5700x.

    Its only slow when creating a new song and adding the first track with NI

    the next track is there within 2 seconds

    Opening a existing song loads also very quick.

    I have W10 and Ryzen9 5900X

    Over here in Studio One v6.1.2 - adding a new instance of K7 VST3 (v7.5.0) to a track takes 1.5 secs.

    That said - K7 (v7.5.0) takes at least 10 seconds to open in standalone mode. Whereas K6 took literally one second.

    Whatever K7 (standalone) is doing at startup is very poorly implemented. Or perhaps completely useless.

    The slow loading time seams to be caused, by Windows defender. Is it perhaps wise to use a fast virus scanner, or none at all? My Daw pc is almost never connected to the internet- only for updates.

    It's never advisable to turn off the virus scanner on any computer unless you never attach any internet connection , USB sticks , network drives and so on and have made 100% sure that there are no virus on the computer prior to turning off virus scanner.

    A less risky approach , though not risk fee ! , is to add the Kontakt and the Cubase 12 pro apps to the ignore list of your AV.

    Some virus guards are more resource demanding that others but Windows Defender never struck me as one that demanding..

    Do you have any mechanical hard drives in your system that you uses for this or are they all SSD ?

    You most likely also have enough RAM ? How much ?

    My PC = AMD Ryzen 9 - 5900X 3.70 GHz 32 GB Ram W10 pro 64bit

    OS C: is a Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB D-E and F drive are samsung 2tb ssd PM9a1 drives ( so very fast ) Thanks for the optimize link - I'm gonna check it
