kontrol s4 mk2 external audio (mic or line)

Hi,

I am having a hard time getting external audio (either mic or line) working with my s4 mk2.

I follow the guide @ https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/209590869-How-to-Use-a-Microphone-with-the-TRAKTOR-KONTROL-S4

But I do get stuck when in the software I go to input routing. No matter which deck or which input I choose, the level meters next to the decks don't show anything.

I tried different microphones, different gain-settings, nothing seems to work. No audio from the microphone and no audio from a line live level source conntected to "input channel a" or "input channel b" from the back of my kontrol s4 mk2.

What am I doing wrong?

Can we see a screenshot of your input routings in preferences?

Sure, thank you for your reply. I tried connecting mic in to deck a, b, c and d, and the line/phono also to various decks. But the meters on the right stay like this and show no audio.

From the setup you show, what should happen is that in deck C there should be the line in from the hardware you connected and in D the microphone.

Did you set those 2 as live inputs decks?

Yes I did. I tried changing every deck (ABCD) into a live deck, but no live input on any one.

And this is not just with the mic (tried dynamic ones that don't need any power), but also with the line/phono inputs.

Thank you so much! This indeed solved the issue. Not only is the microphone connected to the kontrol s4 working now, but also the line inputs are working.

Native Instruments really has to work on making this more visible. People just don't know it, and the UI does not give any indication that "just" access is needed. You are far from the only one who had this problem :(
