Best session guitarist for country music
Hi all,
Most of the songs I write are more in the Americana/Country vibe. Does anyone have any recommendation of which electric Session Guitarist I should go with? Yes, I'd love something that could do chicken pickin'.
Any help is appreciated.

I have the Sunburst Deluxe and the Vintage; use them occasionally, easy to play. Also have Indiginus Renegade (Tele modeled), Indiginus Generation Electric (Strat modeled) which have more articulations, but with limitations. My go-to is Impact Soundworks Shreddage series (Archtop & Stratus) which are extremely well detailed but come with a HUGE learning curve. I use them often in my commercial projects.
That said, the Vintage will get you close to "country", but the Renegade may get you closer to 'chicken-pickin'. YMMV.

Thanks, I just picked up picked acoustic. I'm debating all of the electrics: mint, sunburst, and vintage. If you have an opinion let me know.
Best,
Devin

Vintage is the Telecaster rendition, pretty twangy. Mint is the Strat, not so much. Sunburst is double humbucker, great for rhythm, or Dicky Betts style.

Do you own any of these or one that you love?
Thanks

Hi Brad,
Thanks for your detailed answer. Very new to samplers as a whole this is all an exploration and at $50 a reasonable gamble. The Renegade sounds fantastic. We'll see how this goes before I invest in kontakt 7. I guess I'll get the vintage to start.
Thanks again for your help.

I highly recommend checking out Texas Twang by Orange Tree Samples. It was sampled with both picking and plucking techniques. It's a library I couldn't do without. I own several NI session guitarist libraries. They're very well sampled but the lack of hammer-ons, pull-offs, and other articulations makes them inadequate for exposed work in country/folk music.

Thanks, EasyTiger,
I just picked up picked acoustic and will likely get the vintage electric next. I want to see how easy these midi/samplers are. I'm a competent guitar player and want to see if this adds to my recordings. So, this is more of a test. Texas Twang is on the list for down the road.
