Need help finding an instrument please!

Hi!

I apologise if this is a stupid question, but I've just updated to Kontakt 7 from Kontakt 5. In a previous project I was working with an orchestral preset called 'String Ensemble' (screenshot 1).

If I open the project it still loads and plays ok, but when I try to find that instrument and preset in a new instance of KK, I cannot find it - I just get three weird synth sounding press also called 'String Ensemble', none of which are the one I'm looking for (second screenshot)

Can anyone please explain how I find and load this instrument and preset in other projects and instances of KK?

    You are right...apparently the old Kontakt Factory Library doesn't show up in the new browser.

    Try this in Kontakt 7:

    1 Deactivate the new Library Browser view by clicking on this icon.

    2 Activate the Side Pane view:

    3 Go to Kontakt Factory Library and select Orchestral/VST Strings/String Ensemble:

    Hope this works and you can access the preset this way.

    I also just updated to Kontakt 7 and just checked, in Kontakt 7 I could still find the preset...it's part of the 'Kontakt Factory Library' under Orchestral -> VSL Strings -> String Ensemble.

    However the old Kontakt Factory Library doesn't seem to show up in Komplete Kontrol.

    When I open Kontakt/Orchestral, I don't see any strings presets at all?

    For some reason I don't have the side pane option in that menu?

    It is the square button, next to the wheel button.

    ....it is not that difficult to click some button to know what they are there for....

    Unless if you have Kontakt Player and not the Full version.

    @AMD That's because you've minimized Kontakt. Click on the last icon (the one with two rectangles) to switch to Kontakt's full rack view, then try again.

    @jyoung I got there in the end! Thanks for your help in finding it.

    Why on earth have NI made it so difficult to locate these things? There's enough separate instruments and fx to get our heads around without having to worry about different library versions for different versions of each instrument 😣
