NKS User Library

They won't migrate if you have both VST2 and VST3 installed as they will default to the VST2. If there is no VST2 they open in the VST3 (at least that's what they do for me on Mac - I guess maybe the situation is different on Windows - but it shouldn't be because the original files ere saved on Windows for most of them)

I just made my first attempt at creating a NKS library, from the Universal Audio 1176 Rev A Compressor. I have run into an issue where I cannot get the artwork to show for the plugin, despite matching the naming conventions used in the other Universal Audio plugin user libraries that are available. Also the plugin does not come up under Universal Audio, rather it comes up under Universal Audio (UADx). I have done this on an Apple Mac, saving each preset out manually. I copied over all of the .json files into the appropriately named folder, and then edited them to reflect the 1176 plugin. Are there any typical newbie gotchas that I should be aware of here?

I don't know this plugin, neither how its name appears correctly, please upload here the NI resources folders (both folders in full hierarchy, but json and meta files only, not the images) and also one of the presets, to check them an tell you more.

Look at the UADx NKS I made in the user library and use the same locations and syntax

Yes I've tried to do that to the letter

Here is the mistake:
Vendor on the presets is Universal Audio (UADx)
But on your resources is Universal Audio
What you can do is:
- either select all your presets on Komplete/Maschine, use Edit and change the vendor to Universal Audio
- either change your resources (folders, json, meta) to universal audio (uadx)

@Sunborn That's fantastic! I was looking at it in a hex editor and wondering how I could change that. I never stopped to think that I could actually change it inside Maschine. I just made that change and all of a sudden everything shows as expected. I had actually played around with folder namings, but that didn't seem to make any difference, and I really wanted this to align with the naming conventions that have already been used on the other plugins.
Thank you for taking the time to look into what I had done.

For some reason I get the “Plugin could not be loaded” dialogue with these presets, whereas the VST3 template by Kymeia seems to load. Also my fab filter One and FX work in VST3. Anybody else experience this? I am sure they worked when I first downloaded them, but may be tripping.

If i remember well, Twin 2 was VST2 only. And Kymeia's vst3 template was for Twin 3, not 2
EDIT: My mistake, it do exists. Here it is, Kymeia's template, it says VST3 inside file. Maybe you download something else?

Christos Adamos uploaded the VST3 presets and previews for Twin 2. As I mentioned, the VST3 template works, but not the factory presets for me.

Strange, my VST conversion works for me (tested on Windows platform) and loads ok the plugin, but template from Kymeia won't load (plugin not found error). I'm sure that i make the conversion with Kymeia's template so i will investigate it further

Thanks, sorry I’m not able to test at the moment but the template was definitely made with the VST3 on Mac (but it was too buggy to save presets with for me)

Interesting that. I am on Mac OS, so it maybe the files don't migrate well for some reason. Thanks for the feedback.

I have now migrated to Twin 3 and am using the template posted by Kymeia. I started mapping the VST3 presets as the previews have already been made for a VST2 version, though I am finding anomalies on Mac OS when saving them. For some reason some of the patches are barely audible when I select them after saving in .nksf. I get a different loudness and resonance on some patches as if it has changed the parameters. If I open the preset manually I hear the sound as it should be played.
Can't figure it out at this point, but maybe there is a solution.

I also have those problems even with the (supposed) updated Twin 3 version! It is like the developer was drunk while he worked on this. Lot of things does not make any sense, also in Windows, such as what you mention "some of the patches are barely audible". Some basses have arpeggiator, while some Arp patches have no arpeggiator at all!
I am also working on the VST3 NKS but very-very slow. I already did the Arp & Bass (if you prefer to skip them so we can finish this nightmare ASAP).
