Where did Kontakt go?

Help! I recently purchased Kontakt8 and was having a ball using it it pro tools. long story short, I fired up pro tools on a track where I was using 3 instances of Kontakt 8 and Kontakt simply disappeared from my plug ins folder ruining the track that someone is paying me to write. im rolling the dice here, is it an easy fix? PS. Kontakt8 is running fine as a stand alone but is gone from my pro tools.

hey, I just pulled Kontakt from the "Unused" Plugins and dropped it into my "active" Plugins folder and its been running fine, it even recalled the presets i was using. go figure! Lets see if it holds.

Can you screencap exactly how you add a virtual instrument to a track within ProTools AND the list of ALL instruments you have available to add?

Seems a tad odd that Kontakt would just disappear - which is impossible unless you uninstalled it.

thanks for getting back. im baffled as i was using Kontakt quite a bit just trying to learn it and dig on the sounds. i built up a track that was sounding really good to me and last night, i put on the phones and fired up the session i was working on and Kontakt8 and Reaktor were gone from my plugins folder.

as you can see in the pic, just some big X's where the Kontakt used to be. lol as far as instruments, i went on a real tear for black friday so that list would be pretty huge.

@nick-e-see What happens if you try to load a Kontakt 8 track in an empty project?

If you can't find it at all, you might need to close Pro Tools and delete the Kontakt 8 AAX file found here: Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-Ins then open Pro Tools again. Close it and reinstall Kontakt 8 from Native Access.

If it's showing and you only experience this in that project, the issue is probably a different one so please let us know.

i tried to load it into a new project to no avail (Reaktor also went bye bye) its crazy because i definitely didnt uninstall it. Kontakt runs fine stand alone but i brought up my pro tools plug in folder and its gone. if i re-insstall, will it take the place of the stand alone kontakt that seems to run just fine

hey, Jeremy…I did some digging and found Knontakt 8 in my pro tools Plug-Ins (Unused) folder. I'm not sure how it got there, but I'm guessing if I just drag it from there back into my actual plug-ins folder it'll work again?

It might have been placed there if there was a crash when loading the plugin. Do you remember what libraries you have used in your recent projects? If you load them in the Kontakt standalone app, do they load, does it crash?

You could carry out these steps on top of the previous ones as preemptive treatment: Kontakt Crashes
