New S49 MK3 - Serial already registered

in Komplete Kontrol

I finally saved up enough to purchase a new S49 MK3.

Set it up and opened NA, input the serial and -

"This serial is already registered"

๐Ÿ˜“

Purchased from Musician's Friend (but fulfilled by Guitar Center).
What happened here? Are employees registering the serials?
Or are keygens generating the serials and people registering them?

I've reached out to support, but it's a shame I was so excited to get started with it today. And it'll probably be quite a while before I get a response from them as they seem to be very busyโ€ฆ

    Just got a response from support and they reset the serial. So I'm able to move ahead ๐Ÿ˜

    Thankfully it appears to be new. I can't see any signs of usage.
    Which is why I assumed otherwise.

    Usually it's due to someone purchasing then returning the keyboard. Hopefully support get back to you with some speed, nothing worse than a new product only to be hanging for answers to even get started.

    From what I have read over the years, this seems to be common with products from GC. I live in Australia so do not have experience but it's an issue that crops up from time to time. Just check over your hardware carefully for any signs of wear.
