Maschine & Cubase

Hi - complete newbie with Maschine, but have played with Cubase for years. I'm struggling to fully integrate my new Mikro with Cubase 10.5.

I've spent the last day or so going over online tutorials, but I wondered if there was a good collated source to help me set things up. What I've done so far:

  1. Installed the Maschine software, controller, Native Access, Massive etc.
  2. Got familiar with the hardware - can navigate around reasonably well, can get good sounds playing through the hardware and associated software.
  3. Have configured the hardware in Cubase in terms of midi maps, and can use the Mikro as a controller for Groove Agent in Cubase - can record fine with that, all works well.
  4. Can use Mikro as a surface controller for Chord maps in Cubase, triggering samples from Halion etc.
  5. Can add in Maschine as instrument in Cubase, manipulate sounds and record in the instrument, can drag midi from that into Cubase tracks and that works fine.

HOWEVER!

I can't for the life of me record directly into Cubase from Maschine as an instrument. I've tried what I think is every routing option…. the recording arms on the track, but it just doesn't record.

I've seen tutorials telling me to change Group Input to manual, change to midi channel 1, match the Sound midi channel to 1, change Group midi sound batch to midi notes…

Really struggling to see what I'm doing wrong.

Hi - yes, thanks - I followed that one to the letter, but it didn't work for me.

Are you sure, that you set the midi output and input (+ through off) to host. I can try later and maybe make some pictures with cubase 14, but it should be similar to your cubase version.

Thanks all - yeah, I've got it mostly working I think. It's not intuitive, at least not for someone as hard-of-thinking as I am!!!

@Uwe - yes, it's to do with how I set the midi ports.

I am reading your reply and I can say to you that I see that you understand so use it to you advantage, literally what you said about MIDI ports.

Try with Lock States control, maybe doing something different but extremely fun will brake monotony of learning how to control and record everything... for the beginning.
