I got Maschine 3, installed it (along with the other free software) and tried to open it. All I am getting is a Preferences pop up window. Am I doing something wrong. From what I was told I don't need the hardware
do you mean the settings/ preferences page , is it asking to set the audio interface
These are the steps I take.
Am I doing something wrong.
Do you have more than one screen connected to your computer? Maybe Maschine is opening on another screen but the preferences are on the main screen…
You're not supposed to just look around, but set the various preferences to your requirements then close the window.
BTW your profile says you're using Windows 10
Sorry it's 11. And no, I flipped through all the screens
close the preferences box , close will be at the bottom right
Then you’ll be in ideas view , with scene 1 and group A , sound 1 should be highlighted, but nothing is loaded , so go to the browser, at the top of the page by the maschine label , my mouse pointer is under it in the image , in the middle is the browser button , click that and the browser opens to the left .
The icons at the top under library are for project , groups (kits ) , sounds (sampled instruments) , instruments (vst), fx , samples and loops
Select group , pick a kit , (if you look at the bottom of the browser , you will see + patterns, highlight that for now , load the kit and it should have some pre made patterns , that populate the ideas view column
That’s a drum kit / group
For a instrument add a new group with the + next to group A
With sound 1 selected go to browser and select sounds or instruments and load a preset
Unless you’re layering sounds , I’d advise to keep your instruments in separate groups on sound 1
Add a pattern to the ideas view column
You can have 1 pattern active in each column per scene, add new scenes (+) to use different patterns
You can append a scene to the timeline, by right clicking on the scene and you can go to the time line , by clicking the icon to the left of scene 1
You don’t need to use ideas view and you are free to go to the timeline immediately, where you can create scenes / patterns and clips , beware clips , they are not the same as patterns, they were made to bridge scenes , as patterns are enclosed within a scene , and clips are not , clips can be moved freely along the timeline.
Within a scene your shortest pattern will repeat, if you dont want this to happen , make all your patterns the same length , regardless of midi data .
