Issues moving sounds.

Hi all,

Everyday is a school day! I am still getting to grips with Macs after years of Windows but I am having a bit of a nightmare after moving several gigs of sounds from the internal SSD to an SD card.

I'm on a MacBook Pro 2021 - M1 Pro - Sequoia Ver 15.5

I copied and pasted the sound files I wanted to move, deleted the originals and then went into Native Access and repaired the file paths.

So far so good.

I have lost pretty much all the images, however. As attached. Not all, but most.

Pics attached. I've tried to capture the fact that, you can see there are some images. Everything I've tested loads and when it does, the instrument art is there when using the instrument. I explore the folders and see artwork in there.

At this point, I'm ready to delete the lot and start from scratch - I have already reinstalled Kontact 8 to see if that fixed the issue but it didn't.

When thinking about a totally fresh reinstall of everything, would it be possible to send the software to the SD, or does Native download to the SSD by default with no option to change that?

In the meantime, as I do actually have sound which is the most important thing, is there a fix to reinstate the cover art in Kontact?

One thing I have learned, is the SD was on offer and yeah… it's not whizzy. Next time, throw a bit more cash that way - me, to future me.

I will probably want to refine this process for the future so any tips gratefully received, in general, about moving Native software.

This has been really helpful, thank you!

I would say to others in a similar position - the instructions were not quite the same for me.

I had to search for the folder using the "NI Resources" - which was on the SD card. So I managed to move that along with my sound library.

Next, for those like me - the instructions are literal; holding "option" will reveal the "library" option in the drop down menu (newbie to Mac ways…) - this led me to the part where I was able to send my Kontact 8 folder to the bin.

I don't appear to have a Service Center folder, however, and I was unable to locate a pal.db file. So didn't send that to the bin.

I opened up Kontact via the Native Access app and it began to rebuilt automatically.

Closed it once it was done, booted Logic and so far so good!

All artwork restored, sounds sounding! Great stuff.

    Phew, I feel quite empowered!

    Thanks again, Poorfellow
