My new S88 MK3 keeps freezaing up after a few seconds

I'm using my S88 MK3 bus powered using the data cable as the power cable. It worked fine for a few months but now it keeps freezing up. The keys will still work but all knobs and screen will freeze. Does this HAVE to be powered with the original power cable? If so, wont it fry the board with the data transfer cable that ALSO carries bus power? I fried one already and thought this was why. I feel lost here.

Hello,

you can power it with the other usb-c connection and also use the data connection to connect your computer. I'm pretty sure if you connect the power usb-c connector it breaks the power connection from the data usb-c connection, thus only drown power from the power usb-c connector. So normally it should not fry the board. But very strange behavior, that it worked so long and now all of a sudden this. Can you try it with a power brick? Maybe this unit is defective. And normally all cables should work but the originals have a perfect fit.

If NI is seeing this, this is my FOURTH s88 MK3 , one of which fried (all white screen) when I connected to computer and wall outlet with provided power cable. This release is extremely buggy and needs a massive overhaul. We love the software but it's so cumbersome and cheap. The power consumption and CPU power are both woefully lacking
