OS System Requirements

Hi there,
I'm running an older Mac Pro and due to certain 3rd party hardware upgrades, cannot update MacOS beyond Big Sur (11.7). I will be getting a new machine probably next year.
In the meantime, I'm currently using Komplete 12 Ultimate and considering taking advantage of the upgrade sale. I assume Kontakt 8 will not run on this machine so I won't update that one just yet - I will stick with Kontakt 6.8.0.
Will new Komplete 15 instruments run with this version of Kontakt?
Thanks!

Also @robteehan You can check what versions of our software are compatible with your OS here and find the installers to install these versions if needed: Compatibility of Native Instruments Products on macOS

Some of the very oldest apps (Massive, Battery 4) might still be fine. But the bulk of the newer K 15 stuff will not.
Any Kontakt instrument released after Sept 2023 - now requires Kontakt 7.6.1 (or higher) and some now even require Kontakt 8.x
I think you will be very disappointed to spend on this update and find out very little of the "good stuff" will even install let alone work.
Also to gain full value for the upgrade - you would need to be able to run the latest Native Access (v3.18.1) which is also not supported on Big Sur.
If it were me - I would concentrate on a new machine/new OS before making this wide of a jump in Komplete versions.

You would have to check each individual product for requirements . Compare Komplete 15 bundles :
E.g.
Alicia's Electric Keys : Free Kontakt Player version 7.10.5 and higher, or Kontakt version 7.10.5 and higher.
Electric Keys-Diamond & Electric Keys–Phoenix : Free Kontakt Player 7.8 or Kontakt (Version 7.8 or higher)
.
But a lot of libraries require "newest" version of Kontakt and a lot of libraries are per standard already updated to beyond Kontakt 6 and require Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries

Here's my suggestion for OP.
The "Summer of Sound" sale happens every summer. No guarantee that it will be back next year, but it's already been a thing for many years, so I'd expect it to return in 2026.
So don't bother buying K15 and then not be able to run it for a year. That would be putting the cart before the horse.
Instead, save your money and upgrade your Mac FIRST. And you don't even need to hurry. Keep saving your money so that you can buy the Mac in one of the months between January and April next year. Then buy K15 whenever "Summer of Sound" starts up (May or June).
The horse should pull the cart, not push it. Making the horse push the cart is just as cruel as making Sisyphus push that boulder up the mountain for all of eternity.
Of course, if you are especially motivated, you can take a 2nd and maybe even a 3rd job, and just save a lot more money a lot faster for the purchase.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

Thank you guys, pretty clear that I should resist the sale and upgrade next year once I get my new mac.

It can be difficult to wait for things. But it sounds like you already have a plan to get you to that place of success. Good luck!
