When I have recorded a pattern in prime bass and I want to change a pattern, it changes all the previous ones as well. I watched many you tube tutorials, didn't find the answer.

So i guess you have no problem playing notes or chords with a melody instrument, this is really easy. You just press C1 to D#1 to select a play style then you play notes from C2 to B4. If you want to play chords set the option to chords under the left lower area where you set the play style.

Another thing is the phrases E1 to G1 (melody instrument) , there are one pitch phrases, you start them, and then you pay a note then it will play that phrase with that note, so the phrase runs in background and the note gates the phrase + gives it the pitch

with the phrases it´s pretty similar but if you play one note this note is then just the lowest note in that phrase as far as i can tell, if you then want to change a note within that phrase you can only do that with phrases that you can switch to one pitch mode, you can drag and drop those phrases with the cross sign into your daw, but then you have to switch the phrase into one pitch mode, now you can change a single note or whatever in that phrase and it will be played that way , of course you will also have to trigger that phrase with the correct note (E1 to D#1) now in one pitch mode as i said before.

i made you two midi files you load the preset "alternative bass" and set the mode according to the name, 1 you play with the preset as it is, 2 you set the play mode to one phrase, i guess then you will bettger see for yourself how it should work - even if i discovered a problem you will maybe also see but thats another story

    Hello,

can you please give a bit more details, what do you have recorded, a phrase or do you use the melody instrument or a phrase with notes to pitch the phrase. What is your DAW, maybe tell us the preset you use and what notes or whatever you play, simply give an example we can replicate.

I hope I can give enough information. I work in Logic. The problem occurs when I drag and drop patterns in my track.

So I tried to fix it by working with a keyboard controller. But the same happens: The midi regions that I already recorded change into the last played pattern.

The problem occurred when prime bass was in pattern mode. So today, I tried prime bass in melody mode. It worked quite well for a while, but now the same thing happens: already recorded midi regions change in the last chosen pattern…

More information: I tried to make a verse with patterns from bank 20: funky offbeat. In the chorus I used bank 21: big thump. When I do that, everything changes in big thump.

you can mix patterns from two presets by changing/adding the single phrases. The melody instrument has 4 slots for phrases the other one has 8 slots. So lets say you want to have all phrases from "funky offset" and "big thump", you open the non melody instrument and you load "funky offset" as preset where you then have all 4 phrases loaded on c1 to d#1, now you have to load the phrases from "big thump" one by one on the e1 to g1 slots, you would have to load phrases 80 to 83. You can´t do it the way you tried it.

so it would look like this

Hi Uwe, Thanks for your quick response. But still I have problems with making my own patterns.

    1. When I work in Toontrack, I get midi notes which I can change. But that seems impossible with pre bass.

    2. Sometimes when I try to record with my controller, all I can see is an empty midi region. The problem occurs in melody mode and pattern mode as well.

Do you try to use the phrases or do you want to play your own notes/chords or a combination of that? Last two mentioned you can only do with the melody instruments. Later I'm back on my PC then I can make you a few examples.

    Hi Uwe,

That would be great. I really appreciate your feedback. I think there was a glitch or something regarding the empty midi track.
when you choose a pattern to record, you see in your midi track midi notes, but also a long bar that indicates the pattern key you used.

Sometimes I wish to adapt the pattern slighty. And it isn’t a problem when I adjust the notes, but timing is a different story. And I tried it also in melody mode, but apparently I did something wrong.

still prime bass is a cheap and realistic vst, But I have many struggles to get in a workflow with it..
