Can't sample/hear any external Audio plugged into Line In

Hey folks,

I recently purchased a second hand M+ in a very good state and want to learn things on it. I love that insturment so far, but got issues when I tried to start to sample from external devices.

My problem is: M+ doesn't show me any signal in Sampler in any mode. I tried any Input as Stereo and Mono, made different settings in Settings→Audio→Input Routings, turned the gain to 'max', and more. Nothing seems to help for getting a signal from the Line In plugs.

I wanted to sample stuff out of my MC 707 via MC's Mix Out. I also tried the phones out into Mic In - There is no Input singal at all.

So, what am I missing?

Would love to hear from you, that it a problem with my settings and not a hardware error.

It's a Windows 11 computer.

I don't know what I changed, but now it works! oO

I had the device at a friends and we tried without success. Now I came home, plugged everything - it did not work. Then I put a TRS-Klinke into the Mic In and the other plug to my smarthphone via USB-C-adaptor - still no success.

When I eventually plugged in the micro again it surprisingly worked!

So, tbh I feel a little bit ashamed because of I cannot say how and why it now works, but also extremely relieved about that fact.

what happens if you connect to a computer does it act as an audio interface

it’s been a while since I used the + , have you setup the input at sound/pad stage , select sound /channel / audio/input

FYI if you didn’t know , you can use the mc over usb , if you put the mc in generic driver mode

As I'm noobie at M+ I can't really follow your suggestions as they're very short.. Did not find the 'sound /channel / audio/input' section. Could you tell me where to find that?

Besides I tried also to get the MC via USB running and failed to setup the things so they work.

Thought the Maschine would be a little easier to setup especially the audio in

tbh , I’m not sure that makes a difference to sampling , that’s more for playing the audio live through the channel

Anyway I’ll see if I can find some videos on you tube , most of them are for the software and mk3

Have you switched monitor on ? , its on page 2 of the sampler window

Yea, I also wanted first to play audio live through the channel which also did not work for me.

I switched monitor to 'on' - still no signal.

Of course I searched YouTube before asking here, but did not find a proper vod. So maybe You are successful.

Yes, I use the Mixout of MC with 2 x Klinke which go in the Line In of M+

I wonder if maybe my M+ is defect.

Yes, but only if i switch to controller mode. Then I can hear sounds via USB..

Did you confirm that when using via USB with Maschine software, the M+ input jacks can be used to record a sample?

what computer , if it’s Mac don’t forget to grant maschine access to the microphone in privacy and security

Then in maschine settings check the inputs are set to 1: L 2:R

maybe rebooting helped , I know that sometimes the midi port don’t show , and you have to reboot , but with the midi cable disconnected , and it reappears

Update:

I've got that problem nor serveral times while using a powerbank as powersource. The mic is not recognized when I plug it into M+ while running. Neither after restart. My solution: plug the mic BEFORE plugging the power, then it works.
