missing .nicnt on external drive

Hello!

A few days ago I upgraded to KOMPLETE 15 and installed all libraries on an external ssd drive on my Mac. So far so good. I decided some days later to use the whole content on another Mac, so I plugged the ssd into the other Mac and started the "relocate" process as told on the webpage of NI. Then the surprise! I was not able to relocate all directories in the library, because of the fact that in nearly half of the folders the .nicnt file is missing. In this case the relocate doesn't work. Message shown "The path is invalid" - interesting enough that a lot of this folders do not contain a .nicnt file after reinstallation. At the beginning I thought that was the reason Native Access was not able to handle the relocate process.

Is there any other method than reinstalling the missing instruments?
It is a bit boring and time consuming to download and reinstall especially huge files like e.g. Hybrid Keys, or Cuba, etc.

Many thanks already in advance ;)
Cheers, Thomas

What's the operating system of both macs? What is the format of that hard drive? It should be APFS, as explained in this article: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

Do Native Access , Kontakt and your DAW have full disk access? How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

Regarding the nicnt files, which libraries do have one, which ones don't? If you connect back to the other Mac, what happens? Are some libraries showing as missing too?

Thanks for replying so fast! Appreciate that!

Both Macs on latest Sequoia 15.1.1, Harddrive APFS, Native Access and Contact have full disk access, Logic Pro as well, Ableton or Cubase don't.

There where so many libraries missing the nicnt file, I can't list all…but most of them where the huge ones like Abbey Road Drummer, Analog Dreams, Bouquet, Session Bassist Upright, Session Bassist Prime, Session Guitarist Mint, Sunburst and Sunburst DLX, Strumming Acoustic, Session Percussionist Session Strings 2, Studio Drummer, The Grandeur, Africa, Cuba, India, and so on….

Connecting to the other Mac (where the first installation was) everything works.

The Problem is that I lost a huge amount of time and as far as I see I have to download all those libraries again via "reinstall", which takes some 14 hours to download and install. Not mentioning the enormous data volume of the download.

Ok, so if the libraries show on the other mac (let's call it Mac number 1), it means the nicnt files are somewhere. Identify one of the missing library with no apparent nicnt file on Mac number 2, open Native Access on Mac Number 1 and check the installation path of the library, look in the folder for the nicnt file.

If on Sequoia, please check for these settings on your Mac (number 2) as well:

    That's not so easy ;)

There are libraries that don't have a .nicnt file or better said it seems they don't need this file. It is a pretty difficult and time consuming task to identify where Native Access wrote those files and where there should be such a file but there isn't. Takes me too much time with no solution at the end, except reinstalling 2/3 of the instruments.

Thanks for your effort, but pretty useless to check 174 directories for a file that, if it's not in the folder, needs a reinstallation anyway.

    Best regards, T.

It's not about checking every library but just identify one library and locate this nicnt file. If a Kontakt library was installed by Native Access and it's loading in Kontakt it means that the nicnt file is preseent somewhere, you just need to locate it and maybe understand the pattern for all libraries.
