Backing up, preparing for a system wipe....

Let me preface this question with a statement that I consider myself pretty damn good with computers. I do a lot of software testing, and as a result, have to reset my computer sometimes to clean things up.One thing that I don't seem to get right is NI. All my Kontakt libraries are stored on its own SD drive. When I start my system over, I reinstall Native Access and always go through the arduous task of reinstalling the libraries. Yes, I tell it to re-locate the library, but I always end up having to download and reinstall.Does anyone know of a way to set up so all I do is to point the default directory to the SD drive and have it reconnect to the libraries? Is there some directory or something I should backup before reformatting everything and make this process go by so much faster?

Only specific content can be "relocated" via Native Access. Other products (plugins, expansions, tools, etc) need to be downloaded from scratch.

    Has always been this way.

I've always assumed if you keep the libraries and contents in the same place you could simply use the Installation Path function of Native Access once you have a fresh install. Am I wrong on that?

Not quite. You can certainly "reset" your File Locations options to point "back" to your old content stash. But that only gets you to first base - you still need to do a Locate - so Native Access can rewrite the authorization and whatever else it is missing in a new install.

Content is one thing - but having it related back and be authorized to your NI acct is another.

Most Kontakt content can stay put on an "F" drive for example. But take something like an Expansion (Faded Reels) - you cannot Locate it in NA and have NA recognize/authorize it like that. Same with something like a FX plugin. That will end up on C by default - which was just wiped via the rebuild process.

It's a hassle and I documented each step when I rebuilt my DAW back in Jan-Feb 2024.
