hello everyone,

I have a huge problem with Maschine 3 and Maschine 2. I recently got a new pc

Geekom A8, AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, 48 GB Ram, AMD Radeon 780M, Universal Audio Volt 276

and I have crackling and CPU spikes goes up and down. I tried it with low cpu plugins as well as with CPU heavy plugins.

I updated everything

Bios, Graphics, Audio etc. I followd the instructions on native instruments for optimizeing Audio Setup. I tried latencymon and there is no significant issue.

I tried the new pc setup with Ableton live with lots of plugins, Instruments and even a guitar rig 7 preset with 30 % CPU - NO CRACKLES!

Anyone know anything?

Based on your system criteria, there is no reason you should be experiencing that…

Usually, I would consider the audio drivers for the Audio card/interface. Sometimes reinstalling or rolling back those drivers to an earlier version can help and even repair those issues in some cases. You may even have your sample rate too high. Sometimes, You can start a project and be working completely fine @ 512K, but after adding numerous instruments/effects can start the drag on the CPU/memory, due to trying to compensate for the audio buffer's lack of ability to process the memory fast enough. Try setting it at 1024K and see if it helps, if it doesn't try reinstalling the drivers. I realize that you've already said that you have already tried optimizing the interface, but try it again.

Also, one thing that works for me when buffering issues start is to try this…. Go to Settings/Installed Apps… and "right click"/"reinstall" all of your Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables from 2008 to current. When you execute the reinstalls on the 2015's, Windows will require a restart, just finish them all and restart after, see if that helps.

That being said, something that seems confusing or of concern to me is the "48 GB Ram" you wrote there…. Is it that you have one 32GB card and one 16GB card in the same bank? That could cause many issues with BIOS. I could be wrong, or is it that you have two 16GB cards in one bank and one 16GB card in another slot? I would try pulling the 16GB card on it's own slot if that's the case and sees if that helps. Another issue with memory cards is if you have a DRAM in one slot and not SRAM in another, a DDR4 in one and a DDR5 in another (your system uses DDR5 exclusively), or separate values in the same bank, such as one 16GB in one and a 32GB in another. That could be causing a buffering issue in your caches?!

If you try the audio interface setup/drivers first and there is no change, try pulling a memory card and see if that helps with the CPU spikes. Run a bench mark before you do and again after you pull the card, then compare the values. If the values look better, then purchase a matching card for that bank, if it doesn't change anything place the card back in the slot.

Also worth checking if you haven't already done so is to make sure you have the same sample rate set in your operating system and Maschine, Komplete Kontrol settings.

I fell foul of this and experienced the crackle/pops you are. Having the sample rates set the same cleared it up.

I've had the exact same problem since I installed Maschine 3. I have crackling in all my projects, and there are also strange high spikes in CPU consumption that I haven't seen before, which are not related to my computer's power. This also happens on very small projects.

System: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core, 64 GB ram, Windows 10 Pro, Maschine 3.0.1

I have a Dell Inspiron i5 1.82Ghz 8core 16gb ram 1tb ssd and 2tb ssd (all internal). I have a Focusrite 4i4 which most of the time I run on 16ms. If I add tons of plugins I go up to 512ms.

Have enough HD space is crucial. You extra he’s space acts as additional ram.

Are you using the Volt as an audio interface or are you using the audio interface on the Maschine, if it's a MK3? Did the same setup work on your old PC?

Do you have the same problem if you run Maschine as a plugin inside Ableton or does that crackle as well?

I tried so much...

First of all I didn't mention that I am on Windows 11 and my internal ssd has 2 TB (75 % unused)

I was about to replace my RAM to original (16 GB Slot 1, 16 GB Slot 2) now I have 16 GB and 32 GB until the last replie...

I tried Maschine 3.01 in Ableton and it seems to be fine. Latencymon is fine. When I open Maschine 3.01 in Standalone and open up Guitar Rig with a heavy preset (30%) it crackles and latencymon shows that dxgkrnl.sys and wdf0100.sys causes problems.

by the way I use the Volt 276 as an audio interface and the same setup works with my old pc.

So my conclusions are Maschine Software is causing this audio problems. Or Am I wrong?

Double check the AUDIO settings in the preferences of Maschine and make sure they're set correctly, like the same as in Ableton. Also, make sure that Windows isn't using the Volt as an audio interface as that can cause problems especially if the sample rate of Windows audio doesn't match the sample rate set in Maschine.

I ve got the same settings in Ableton and Maschine as well as in Windows. Why should Windows not using the audio interface?

Switching Windows to another interface (usually onboard) when troubleshooting audio issues is often a good idea as it can cause problems. It might have nothing to do with the problem but occasionally it does depending on the drivers.

so I changed the RAM modules to the initial setup (16GB+16GB) and the crackles are gone. What the ...?

The 32 GB module its exactly the same 1,1 volt

Why doesn't it work with 32GB+16GB?

Will it work with 32GB+32GB?

I want to have enough room for different instruments in the future...I think 32 GB won't be enough. I want to be good for the next 10 years

Dual channel ram should always be purchased and used as matched pairs. Mixing different brands will generally cause unexpected results. Voltages, speed and timings may be the same but it won't work as efficiently as a matched pair.

If your mb supports a total of 64 GB ram then yes it will work but are you sure you'll ever need that much ram? I would stay with what you've got for now and then upgrade should you ever need to.

You might be able to use the sticks in separate channels depending on the motherboard if you really need 48G of ram.
