I can't use all the features of my Kontrol S88 MK3

I think I didn't install the latest drivers for the kontrol s888 mk3. I noticed that the buttons to control the DAW don't light up when I'm on Ableton Live or FL Studio (play, loop, record, DAW...etc).

There are options I don't see in the MIDI settings.

To explain it to you better. In the MIDI settings I should see this:

KONTROL S88 MK3 Main

KONTROL S88 MK3 DAW

KONTROL S88 MK3 Ext

KONTROL S88 MK3 MIDI 2.0

But in my case I only see this:

KONTROL S88 MK3

KONTROL S88 MK3 (Port 2)

KONTROL S88 MK3 (Port 3)

Could someone help me please? I am new to this field, I need someone to explain it to me.

I do not have a Kontrol S MK3 setup here so I can only refer to general help.

First of all then you might want to make sure that your keyboard is set to Midi 1 , forget Midi 2 unless that you have a very specific reason for setting for that otherwise you will most likely get into trouble if setting keyboard to Midi 2. How to Switch a Kontrol S-Series MK3 Keyboard to MIDI 1.0

Else then have you consulted the How to Set Up a Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW ? Please notice the Ableton Live : This setup requires Live 11.3.11 (or higher) and Komplete Kontrol software 3.0 (or newer)

Also then unless that you have opened either Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt 7 or 8 (S.Series MK3 only) then the keyboard will be in pure midi mode and that would also include using the keyboard with your DAW. (Always then run Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt one time as stand-alone to scan for plugins and other setup prior to using in a DAW as plugin)

Also then you could check the Boom midi fix here not sure if it is valid for MK3 also

MY new  KONTROL 88 S keyboard shows the serial,ON THE KEY BOARD SCREEN.  I also downloaded the firmware updater    , and when running it always told me to rescan for the device. I checked device manager for windows 10 and THERE IS no driver TO UPDATE. KSMK3Updater DOES NOT SEE ANY DRIVER TO UPDATE IN device manager
I need to install a driver: Kontrol S 88 mk3 DFUIS . Since there is no old driver to update things are going wrong I’m assuming. Where can I find the driver a fulli stallation and  Which one driver do I get?

Getting back to the the computor under devices I type in  run : devmgmt.msc to open device manager.
I see no Kontrol S88 mk3 DUF or ODR under :Universal Serial bus devices. there is no listing of “Other Devices” in the lineup either
KSMKS updater keeps saying please turn on THE key board and RETRY

I believe because there is NO DIVER IN DEVICE MANAGER.
Thou on the key board panel I see the serial Number entered and lit up. Trying everything I can to fire this baby up to no avail.

Did you register the serial number in Native Access?

Did you download and install NI Hardware Connection Service?

Which version of Windows are you on?

I might suggest that you open a support ticket @Chef Daniel Gendron ?

    Thanks for the feed back!

Yes I did register the serial number after I downloaded Hardware connection service from native access app.

    I'm running windows 10 / 64 bit

I have opened a support ticket and we have had some back and forth chats.

    Choose "PORT 2"

Are you sure about using (Port 2)?

As I understand it, MK3 only uses Port 2 or Port 3 if the user is actually plugging in old-school MIDI cables into the 5-pin MIDI DIN ports on the back of the unit.

Every time I tried them under any other circumstance they did not work. I could browse sounds, yes. But I could not play notes on the keybed and have them sound out either through KK Standalone or through my DAW.

Yes, it is correct, stated in the setup notes here:

    https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406832231441-How-to-Set-Up-a-Kontrol-Keyboard-with-Your-DAW

There are 2 ports one needs to be concerned about. One is for high level DAW control (switching tracks, operating the transport functions, browsing presets for the selected KK instance automatically) and this is what you set for the Control Port. In previous keyboard iterations, this was labelled as the "DAW" port, for some reason this was changed to make it less intuitive for the user as seems to be the mantra for the current release… This is, of course, assuming the guides NI have are correct too tho as I do not have a MK3 connected to test.

Below the control surface settings in Live you have MIDI In/Out, this is where you select the main MIDI port as the Midi Input for Tracks and CC input from controls when in MIDI Mode, do NOT select the port used for the control script (port 2) as a MIDI Input/Output as that usually causes issues. It would be the first port listed from the keyboard.

So if you have control happening but not midi input, likely reason is the midi input port has not been checked for the keyboard to control "track"
