Komplete Kontrol S49/S61 MK3 connectivity and USB Cable

Hello!

I am looking to buy Komplete Kontrol S49 or S61 soon. However, I have a few questions about its connectivity. I've heard that it's need to be connected with a laptop via USB-C cable. How long is the original cable that is included in the box with the controller? The controller would be placed on a stand that is a little bit farther away from my laptop and I'm afraid that the cable won't be long enough. If it weren't long enough, could I use a different cable that is not originally provided by Native Instruments? What's more - does the controller need to be plugged-in to the USB-C port or can it be connected to USB-A port through an adapter? If the latter is possible, do I need to provide additional power supply for the device? I have only one USB-C port in my laptop, which is already occupied by the Focusrite interface, so I'd need to purchase an USB hub that has two USB-C ports if I cannot connect it through a USB-A port.

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Hi, I just bought a new s61 mk3. It came with a 2m USB C to C cable. I found that it works fine if I plug it onto the C USB port on my pc. But it does not work via an adaptor into the A USB port. However, if I supply the power separately then I can use a standard C to A USB 3.0 cable into the PC for the data. Because my PC only has one C port and I already use that for something else, the separate power supply is what I've decided to use. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply! Is the USB-C to USB-A adapter included in the original box? Because the power supply certainly is?

Hi, I'm afraid the only thing included with mine was the 2m C to C cable. No adaptor and no power supply. I used the power supply and cable that came with a Pixel 6 phone which I believe is 30W and has a USB C port.

Thanks for answering! That's terrible - honestly, I think it should include power supply.

I am sorry @EvertJG, one more question - did you receive a 25$ voucher when you registered the MIDI controller? As far as I remember, NI has always given such vouchers when registering a new piece of gear and I'm wondering if that's the case this time too. I'm asking because I have one product that I'd like to use it for and I don't know if I should wait for the voucher when I purchase Komplete Kontrol or I should buy it straight away because there's no voucher given for the purchase of the controller. I know that there's a voucher for one Kontakt instrument, but there has always been a 25$ voucher to use in the NI store too.

Sorry for the slow reply: I've been away for few days. That also explains why I haven't actually registered my keyboard yet! So I'm afraid I'm not much help with the voucher because I'll only find out when I register.

The Cyber Sale should use any time now and then the discounts will be better deals than the voucher anyway (except probably for the new Claire and Maschine 3).

No problem! I asked you about the voucher because it is Maschine Central that I'd like to buy with it. I am planning to buy the controller when there is some kind of sale and I'd like to use it with Maschine 3. I don't want to buy it now because if there's a 25$ voucher arriving with Komplete Kontrol, I could buy Maschine Central for 25$ and the update for 29$, which is a better deal in comparison to 69$ update straight away.
