I have very recently upgraded to Komplete 14, is there a grace period where you can upgrade to version 15 without having to pay again.
Regarding grace periods, it's always best to get in touch with our support as it depends of dates of purchases, etc…this is where to get in touch: https://bit.ly/n1orders
My upgrade price from 14 collection to 15 collection was $499 … make sure you login in order to see your qualified upgrade price (assuming you have registered all your NI products/software).
It would have been nice if NI provided a “What’s new” with a more exactly detail listing of 14 Collection vs. 15 Collection … I suspect NI remain vague on purpose which is disappointing.
My biggest fear when released, is I’ll have to do another S88 firmware update which is a NIGHTMARE and no indication at all that NI are going to address their issues with firmware updates … gone thru a long email chain regarding the problem but I fear they don’t care because a “work around” exists even if a very poor one. I was going to skip the NI collection upgrade since I have NOT received any acknowledgement they are going to fix their firmware update problem. When 15 Collection is released and if the firmware update process is still a mess, I’m going to request a refund. I don’t mind paying NI for work performed, but when the work is NOT performed, that’s a problem.
You're right, of course. I should have clarified that if you end up being eligible for a promotional upgrade AFTER you bought a promotional discount, then yeah, you can get that.
But it's rare; you pretty much need to split an atom for that to happen, right?
Sure, maybe NI is more "careful" to avoid such a situation. Generally, no harm if one waits 3/4 year for Summer Sale. I even started to skip every second version, so I update only once a four years… No need to have instantly every plugin on the earth….
When you're right, you're right.
For a little while there, I used to update only every other version. I probably should go back to that, especially since I don't even buy a new iPhone or tablet but every 3rd or 4th new version. I'm still on the 2021 versions of those things.
And even if I gave myself a "new plugin moratorium" until K16, it's not like they would remove any plugins for 16 if they were just new in 15.
I'm curious. Given your every-other-version strategy, would you be buying K15 or skipping it?
I am not sure, if I will upgrade to K15U CE, I have 3/4 year to decide, anyway. Recently I have K13U CE and K14U. So, I might Upgrate K14U to K15U CE and sell K13U CE (I never buy Updates, instead I sell the outdated KU CE…). Or maybe I will just buy Upgrade to K15U, if I have appropriate Base Product to upgrade from.
strangly I upgraded to Ultimate Collectors edition this year. Can’t remember when purchased. When I look at my account I now see NI Collectors Edition 15 update. I purchased mine on the 30 June 2024. But I don’t see a date when the update was added to my account. Now is the update the same as an upgrade? It may answer a question that I came across most recently when I was looking for my installed products and they were all installed and then suddenly a load of new NI Instruments turn up a couple weeks later. I suspect if the new Alecia Keys product that comes with 15 Collectors edition is in the updates then I might have been lucky. But I think what we need to consider is when an update is an upgrade or vice versa. Getting hold of NI to answer the conundrum is going to be.
Update is an update from a version to the next version, like Komplete Ultimate 14 to Komplete Ultimate 15. Upgrade is from Komplete Standard 15 to Komplete Ultimate 15 for example. More info here: What Exactly is a Crossgrade / Update / Upgrade and How Do I Qualify?
well that is a great freebie. I must have been within a grace period. Not complaining of course.
