Monark evolution?

Hi all,

Just wondering on whether we'll see any evolution on the Monark plugin in the near future?

Last update is already from four years back… .

Same time Softube, Arturia, Synapse (, Diva) and others keep on updating their edition.

It gets/got solid praise in the community, so it's really a pity to see it "fade out"…

What kind of update, or, "evolution", as you say, are you looking for? It's already (and still) the best Minimoog emulation. 😉

So there are two takes to that question :-)

Currently it's kind of 1 on 1 matching the hardware from the 70s. And probably some are looking exactly for that.

Or you could see that implementation as a base to expand its possibilities "in the Moog spirit" of things (highly debatable).

Look at what Synapse just did with "The Legend" HZ. That's quite an impressive upgrade.

Some might want polyphony, more filters, more patching.

Either you want an exact replica or you'd like to expand the sonical capabilities.

I would rather go for the latter… .

You can get those already using the Monark blocks, plus it is a user editable ensemble, for example I have my own version with added modulations like velocity and aftertouch etc

I wouldn't mind a Monark 2 with the features you mention.

Unfortunately, it's still monophonic then (with the blocks). Which would be the biggest limitation for me.

And, editing the ensemble also wouldn't work for me, as I have no idea about Reaktor.

Why not a new synth if you want something different? Why expand this one?

There is an elegance and utility in simplicity. I go to Monark for a certain sound and way of working. If I want more complex synthesis and polyphony, I have it in other synths.

Polyphony, more filters, these would make it no longer what it is.

I looked at ‘The Legend HZ’ and it looks horrible. A nice easy to use synth turned into a complicated monster.

Obviously opinions will differ, but I refer back to my first line.

I get your point. But, maybe a Monark 2, or Monark Expanded would be nice to have?

You know, the thing really rocked my shoes off the first time I tried it. Finally, some analog sound in the box. 😉 And, yes, Monark still takes the crown for me in that regard.

Velocity, aftertouch, dedicated vibrato LFO (maybe with tempo sync) and poly would be cool. It would make it pretty perfect in my opinion. As it is, it sounds fantastic and my favorite for M+.

    Monark evolution means Reaktor evolution.

As long as Reaktor stays as it is (and i can guarantee you that it will stay as it is, for a long more time) then Monark too, stays as it is.

The reason for this, was described already by other fellow members above. Because simply, it is perfect as it is!
