Which X1? The new x1 mk3? or mk2 or the first version?

As your MacBook only has USB-C-Ports you will need either an USB-C-to-USB-B-Cable or an USB-C-to-USB-A-Adapter and the cable which came with your Kontrol X1. X1 Mk. 2 and the new X1 Mk. 3 should work without any additional drivers. The first version isn't supported by NI on Apple Silicon Macs as you need macOS 10.14 Mojave (or older). But @Opa built an inofficial solution for the first X1. You'll find it in this thread:
