Yes, that is an issue you will have. On-board audio is not well suited for "real-time" audio production (generating sound on the fly). I'd suggest looking at music stores as a starter (even online) at the popular audio interfaces they have and look for something for your needs. I mean I can suggest what I use and like, I have a Roland OctaCapture but if you really dont have a need for multiple audio in/out then the cost may not be acceptable. There are many other options, just always look if it has dedicated ASIO drivers and steer clear of the Behringer budget cards for the most part.

This is a problem related to what drivers you use ! Typically then you assign ASIO drivers to your N.I. software , but as soon as you start something using an ASIO drivers then that will turn off sound from your browser !

You can try changing the drivers used by the N.I. software to generic Windows type as used by browser but that could give unforeseen lags or other problems but still the most simple solution !

Another solution would be to try and use the "VOICEMEETER BANANA Advanced Mixer" (it's free/Donationware) and see if you can 'route' yourself out of the issue using the mixer !

The card you use should be ASIO multi-client, to be able to accept audio streams from different apps at the same time and to work with low latency.

I use the WASAPI shared driver on my Windows audio interface which gives me most of the benefits of a USB driver but can be shared between multiple sources.

The wasapi shared driver is useless in my case.

Wasapi (Shared) should work no? If you use Wasapi (exclusive) what you describe will happen.

You're going to have to post a screenshot of your audio config.

    • Don't take a picture of the screen with your phone. Use the print screen button.

You need to make sure both the application you use and the windows audio settings are the same sample rate. If they are not, then audio will stop. Also you need to make sure the driver option if using WASAPI is the s"Shared" mode in KK not the single client option. Keep in mind that WASAPI is a poor driver and likely may cause pops and clicks when used with heavy synth plugins.

As for what external card option, there are no single answers. Everyone has different needs and budgets but usually a trusted brand name that you can google around for ASIO audio interfaces. RME, Roland, even Native Instruments if you wanted.
