Kontrol S-Series MK3 DAW mode stopped working with logic pro

@olubone Can you check if your keyboard is set to MIDI 1.0 or MDI 2.0? It's in the hardware settings on the keyboard itself, please switch it to MIDI 1.0
Then, as prompted by the keyboard here:
Turn off the keyboard and delete the Kontrol MK3 in your Audio & MIDI setup, found in Utilities. Turn the keyboard back on, is it working now?

- Quit Logic
- Switch off Mk3 keyboard
- Delete Logic Control Surface preferences file:
- com.apple.logic.pro.cs (should be in Library/Preferences, do a search in Finder if not)
- Restart Logic
- Switch on Mk3
See if it works 👍

Also same for me but definitely don't want to delete all my Logic settings. My keyboard was working until I updated to the latest Sonoma last night0

It’s just Control Surfaces settings, not Logic preferences (which are in different file). Unless you use different controllers, which you have custom mapped in Logic, no harm in deleting this file.
Another thing is to go to Control Surfaces settings and click on “Rebuild Defaults” - if you have not tried that already.

For music production, I advise always running the N-1th version of the current macOS.

I'm tracking my steps and it should happened after updating my OS to 14.3.1.0

I did this already and issue still persists.0 -
In that case, you need to talk to NI support.
Good chance that Apple messed something with the last update, though. It will be fixed eventually.

You had the same issue when updating to the latest Mac OS as me, so I think it's an update issue0

Try this: Logic Pro -> Control Surfaces -> Rebuild Defaults

@olubone Were you able to fix the issue? The cs file is in the user library and not the local one, full path is: Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs
Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:
Also make sure that Logic, Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol all have full disk access: How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

@Jeremy_NI my issue still persists. I have done everything you said. I think issue started after upgrading from Ventura to Sonoma 14.3.1. I thought something was wrong with the keyboard so I connected it to another Mac running Ventura and I was able to use the DAW mode on that Mac.

Worth noting that we're not yet Sonoma compatible, so that could be related.

@Matthew_NI The system requirement on the S-Series page does not specify that it's not compatible with Sonoma, but rather "macOS 13 (Ventura) or higher" which I find that to be very vague. There should be another bullet stating that it's not compatible with Sonoma.

There are loads of people using the MK3 keyboard with Sonoma without issues, myself included. I had constant crashes with Logic too initially. I made two changes and now it seems to work fine. First I added Logic to full disk access (not sure why Apple didn't set it on install???)
Second I disabled Main in MIDI settings as I have 2.0 enabled. It seems Logic does not like when Main AND 2.0 are enabled.
And now, no more crashes.
