I've installed Kontakt 5 on my M1 MacBook but when I import an instrument it says DEMO.

Thanks everyone for all your input about installing Kontakt 5 in my Mac M1. I tried a few of the work-arounds that were suggested with no success. That’s not to say they don’t work, It’s more likely that I’m just not that good at implementing them. So I did what I probably should have done in the first place, I upgraded to Kontakt 7 and it installs just fine. The instruments I created in Kontakt 5 transferred easily to 7 and finally I’ve regained confidence in my Mainstage concerts that use them.

Does K5 even work on a modern Mac. Something suggests it doesn't.
Macs dont like to work with software that is not maintained and K5 is years old, no longer supported and unlikely to work on any modern mac system. You would need a minimum of Kontakt 6 I would think.

Kontakt works on M1/M2, but if you have used Native Access 3.8.0 it kills Kontakt 5 to Demo, and all the Libraries are in Demo which you can´t activate new. You can install NI Access 3.2.3 and reinstall Kontakt 5 to Full Version,
but the Libraries will stay only in Demo.

How does v 3.2.3 fits into this? And is it even possible to get that version anymore - I am thinking no.

I am aware these are available - but what does v3.2.3 have to do with what appears to be a modern Mac that the OP is running.
He made no mention of needing v3.2.3 due to running Mojave...which appears to be the only reason to run this really old version of NA.

Hi Vocalpoint,
I've had the same issue, this is what NI emailed me:
"Please note that Kontakt 5 is not supported officially on M1 machines. We have a workaround that you can attempt to apply, however please note that we do not offer support for this workaround.
Go to the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
Delete the "com.native-instruments.Kontakt 5.plist" file
Restart your computer
Download, install and open NA 3.2.3
Install Kontakt 5"

Interesting. Not a Mac guy - but if it works - then OK :)

Good to know. I have bunch of things I built myself with Kontakt 5 on Mac Big Sur, and found it useful to have the "old" version alive on my M1 Ultra in addition to K6 (K) and K7. Not sure I still need to do that, but nice to see a workaround.
