When and what to Expect Mk3 Firmware Update for Komplete Kontrol?

I recently purchased the new S61 Mk3, and it feels like a downgrade without a MIDI template and an on-screen octave and semi-tone display. Additionally, the transport functionality in FL Studio seems lacking. I am curious about when and if these issues will be addressed in a firmware update because I am strongly considering returning the Mk3 due to these limitations in my workflow.

Supposedly in first quarter of 2024. We shall see ;)

FL Studio support is coming soon. The ImageLine developers are working on the final bits.

MIDI Template Editing is being worked on at the moment, and something I hope to ship in Q1.

Tangent question - as a bunch of Imagine Line leadership joined from NI in the last 12 months - could we see more deep integration with FL Studio in future?

The initial FL integration will be a straightforward one. We may will do more with some DAW partners on both the software and hardware sides of things, but not in the first half of the year, and not anything I can confirm yet.

Regarding the keyboards, the team is focussed on:

    • Firstly, Sonoma support (for Komplete Kontrol software, as well as Kontrol A, M, SMK2 and SMK3 keyboards)
    • For Kontrol S MK3:
      • MIDI Templates on-device
      • Play Assist on-device
      • Accessibility support (via the NI Accessibility Helper App)
    • For Komplete Kontrol 3:
      • Preset Browsing and Editing improvements (some catchup vKK 2.9, some new features)

There are of course other things that we're doing too, for both existing and new products, that I cannot yet talk about.

@Matthew_NI Will NI be adding integration with Reason 12 for Kontrol S MK3 anytime soon?

    Maschine integration please

This is unlikely for the same reasons it was not brought forward from MK2 - high effort but little usage.

😞 @Matthew_NI That stinks. Hopefully it will in the future. Is there a way to make the lights on the play stop rec buttons light up with the Kontrol S MK3 in Default Midi template mode? That should be a feature added. Really hard to tell what the buttons are at night.

@Xtreme the Transport section should always be functional in a supported DAW - irrespective of NKS or MIDI mode. Which DAW are you in?

@Matthew_NI Same issue here in FL Studio, I knew something wasnt right and am assuming that it was due to the lack of DAW integration that requires the upcoming update for it to function accordingly? Also are you able to provide any further updates on the ETA for FL Studios integration?

Just out of interest I have transport support working in both Reason and FL Studio with my MkII keyboard at the moment using MCU protocol - has that been removed from the MkIII's or is that at least still possible as a way to get basic functions going in those hosts even if it is not as great as full 'deep integration'?

@Kymeia Yea MCU will make the transport work and your keyboard will function the same on the MKIII. Waiting on what Chris has to say about whether or not the transport is supposed to illuminate only when pressed or if this is an issue waiting to be patched by the deep integration update. Currently the transport section is blacked out and illuminate only when activated unless I missed something while setting it up.

MCU is one of the two supported DAW protocols: if no DAW is connected, the transport button are owned by the MCU client.
