Any method to install only specific instruments from the Kontakt library?

I don't want to stuff my drive with the full 30GB of vi's, most of which I won't use. Is there some selective way to install individual instruments? I also wonder if there's some way to audition the sounds/instruments before installing.

I see there's a way to install to an external drive, but that creates another question as to whether I can do that without moving all my existing library of NI instruments/plugins. Everything is working well right now, with the efficient speed of my MBP's internal SSD. I'd hate to create a situation where having stuff on an external causes a performance issue.

    Hello,

    1- No, unfortunately there is no way to install selective instruments from the library. But, you can simply delete what you don't want, later, manually from your hard drive. However keep in mind that, on the next library update all instruments will be re-installed, so you will have to delete them again, and so on...

    2- Installing on an external drive:

    • Really good idea for libraries
    • Really horrible idea for plugins!

    However, if you do this, you must also move all your installed libraries there, since (unfortunately) there is only one location available on Native Access. Yet, if everything is working fine in your computer and you are not running out of disk space, i suggest to leave it as is, and do this sometime in the future, perhaps after a big update etc.

    3- You will not have any performance issue, as long as your external drive has equal or better speed than your internal drive.

    Thanks. That really helps. Guess I'll search YouTube to see if there's anyone who has reviewed the library of sounds. I'm just not sure I need any of them.

    Hi Sunborn! And if I delete an instrument but later on I regret it and wanna to re-install it. It will be possible?

    To clarify; if I want to delete the sounds/instruments I don't use, is that done thru Native Access 2? thanks

    Nope!

    If you want to uninstall a complete library or instrument, then of course you do it through Native Access.

    But, if you want to just delete some sounds or instruments from a library, you have to do it manually, by searching inside the folders.

    It is as with any other computer program. If you uninstall it, it removes everything, not just the part that you don't like. But, you can always go manually to its folder and delete, for example, those useless PDF manuals that are not written in your language.
