Blank GUI on Various NI Apps (macOS 14.1.1 Sonoma - OpenCore Legacy Patcher)
Hi forumites,
I'm running macOS 14.1.1 Sonoma on an unsupported MacBook Pro (11,5 mid-2015 model) via OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.2.1 -- so I realize there is no official support I can seek for this GUI issue but thought I'd ask here just in case anybody has some tips.
The latest versions of Komplete Kontrol 3 (and Kontakt 7 and Guitar Rig 6) render a white or black unfilled GUI when launched -- though they can produce sound according to other users with similar issues. Komplete Kontrol 2 renders but can't display any Kontakt 7 instruments properly.
I tested them in Safe Mode and they load fine in that environment. What could I potentially look to as a solution?
As a nuclear option, I've reinstalled macOS 13 (also with OCPL) on an external bootable volume and have everything working fine on that...I'll probably just end up reinstalling macOS 13 on the MacBook's internal disk if I can't find any workaround for macOS 14.

The only products supported by Sonoma are Traktor Pro 3 and Massive X - macOS 14 Sonoma Compatibility Statement – Native Instruments (native-instruments.com)
If you add running Sonoma on an unsupported Mac into the mix things probably aren't going to go that well. I'd go with running 13 until at least NI supports 14.

Thanks. Yes, while not officially supported most applications seem to be working under Sonoma. My main M1 device runs Sonoma also and, AFAIKT, all NI stuff is working as expected. Hence I thought that it would probably be safe to take the old backup machine onto Sonoma too. I suspect it is an OCLP issue but couldn't find much useful info on that yet. I would rather get right back to Monterey if possible but I don't have a backup that dates back that far.

Launch the library you want use from file explorer using the “Open with” Komplete Kontrol/Kontakt/Maschine. This issue is mainly with standalone and can be circumvented by opening from the file browser. I believe the issue is caused by a conflict of some sorts between Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol audio settings as I was able to fix it once by reassigning my outputs in Kontakt while running inside of Komplete Kontrol. If you figure it out, please let me know as I have been battling this for years.

I have the same problem too in a hackintosh with Sonoma, OC & OCLP. I think it is a problem of OCLP patching unsupported graphics cards. The problem affects only to Kontakt 7 and Komplete Kontrol 3. The other programs of NI and all brands are working perfectly.

I think you are right, I am on Sonoma and even if technically ‘unsupported’ they don’t do this for me on M1 Max, it must be because these are older graphics systems.

So can I install Sonoma through OCLP on mid 2014 MacBook Pro and use Traktor without stability iussues?
Thank you!

Probably not

Do you recommend to stay on Big Sur till it works? I’m scared by security patches…

No idea, the problem here is the whole point of Mac design is for the OS to be consistent with the hardware (unlike PC) but OCLP changes all that so there is no way to predict whether something is going to work or not but I would say the more distance you have between the Mac hardware and OS the more likely stuff isn't going to be 100% working - especially graphics.

We can add the Guitar Rig 6/7 to the list of apps that don't render correctly under OCLP running the latest Sonoma version.

Also happens in Ableton Live Beta 12 on Sonoma with M2 Pro. <-- edit: this is not with OCLP, sorry thought I was in a different thread.

I have installed OCLP on my MBP 2015 with Traktor Pro 4 and it runs like a charm!
But i am facing the exact same problems with the Komplete Kontrol components as mentioned here0 -

I hvae tried this with the Drum Lab library, but cannot select the KK application to open it.
