Logic does not automatically update. That is likely a setting that has been enabled in the app store. It can be be disabled also. I don't have anything set to automatically update. That's asking for trouble!

I’ve noticed that this Logic 10.8 update has given me the ability to record midi in via Mk3 (maschine 2) without going into midi mode.
A few tweaks are required and it’s not without issues but to the best of my knowledge, I don’t remember this being possible before. It also doesn’t duplicate the notes.
I apologise in advance if this has always been possible and for going off topic but I thought it worthy of a share.

To clarify, I meant using those things in combination with Komplete Kontrol, not on their own.

Yeah, that feature is new and is great. Unfortunately, it has an unexpected interaction with part of how Komplete Kontrol works (specifically Play Assist), which is what's led to the situation we're in.
Personally I'm not angry at the situation, as I'm just going back to using Kontakt directly. It'll be nice when this gets fixed, but some people here are both getting very heated and projecting a lot of heatedness onto everyone else, which is leading to a feedback cycle. Y'all need to be mindful of the humans on the other side of the screen, and the folks working behind the scenes to try to fix the issue.
From NI's end, would it be possible to add an option to disable Play Assist? I never use that myself (and find it pretty distracting) and it'd be nice if it could be disabled anyway.

May be you all know this but it is very easy to go back to Logic 10.7.9 with Time Machine. I was able to go back to the previous version by restoring the Logic Pro.app file and now everything is back to normal.

I think it's an unexpected interaction with how MIDI generative plug-ins work. It'll likely require follow up work on both ends.

Apple have introduced a great feature. It needs some further tweaking, likely from both ends. I don't think there's any blame, so much as there is something cropped up, and we are one of the companies involved in the fix.

My solution has been to revert to Logic 10.79 via Time Machine.

in scale mode, using S49 im not getting any note duplication, but I am getting 2 midi notes recorded in the logic piano roll. chord mode is not enabled, just scale mode.

I'm no expert but i'll do my best.
Assuming everything is equal..
Create a new instrument track with Maschine 2 in Logic 10.8
In Maschine:
- Change the sound midi output destination to Host for each pad (sound)
- Make sure every pad (sound) is on a different midi channel.
- Transpose each pad (sound) up by one semitone. otherwise they'll record on C3
Hit record in Logic and finger drum away.
Note Repeat and Chords will record midi data into Logic but a more advance config will be required to get the most out of the latter.
Either pad 14 or 15 played on a lower octave after transposing up which is weird but that could just be my setup.
Recording over existing midi duplicates the notes up by one semitone.
It's not a seamless integration at the moment but it has definitely opened the door, if it wasn't possible before
I hope this all makes sense and you get some use out of it.
