S88 MK3 and Cubase issue

Hi there

Basically I work on Cubase 12 and when I change channel the S88 MK3 does not update graphic and parameters to match the library loaded on the channel. Sometimes it even shows a random Action Strikes even if the library on the channel is completely different.

The only way I have to see the correct library on the screen and lightguide is to go inside Kontakt 7 or Komplete Kontrol and click on the S88 icon or relink the controller, which is quite annoying.

Am I missing something? Should I change some settings? Anyone experiencing the same bug?

    Hi Tim

    I've just checked and the Kontrol MK3 was already set inside the studio setup

    So issued not solved at all. When I switch from one track to another the screen shows the Default MIDI Template and not the actual library right now. Even if it's made for Kontakt Player and NKS compatible.

    something similar happened with the MK1 when the M32 was connected. Basically, Komplete Kontrol automatically selected as controller the M32 and every time I had to manually select the S88 unless I unplugged the M32. 

    But now the M32 is not connected and in any case it doesn't work directly with Kontakt. 

    So maybe something else is causing a conflict that avoid Kontakt to automatically select the MK3? Go figure out what is it if this is the case...

    To clarify, Kontrol Mk3 (as the only connected NI device) is not automatically connecting to Kontakt when you select a track in Cubase - is that correct?

    Are you using the very latest version of Cubase and have you installed the Hardware Connection Service as well as the latest versions of Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt?

    Indeed. It shows the browse page on the screen for one second and then MIDI Default Template.

    I'm on the last version of Cubase, Kontakt and KK and installed the Hardware Connection Service.

    Weird fact: this issue does not seem to happen on my MacBook Pro and my Windows laptop.

    I have same problem but only in Kontakt in Nuendo 12, latest version.

    Only I can see its DAW, not plugin or browser. KK3 works ok, but I hate it for that small GUI.

    Hi Lev,

    did you find a solution to it? I think I'm going to format my computer hoping to erase the thing that is causing the issue. I believe there's something that is bothering Kontakt and KK avoiding the correct connection between them and the keyboard in Cubase.

    2 days ago I installed Cubase 13 but the issue is still there.

    The keyboard works fine with K7 and KK in standalone mode

    Unfortunately not yet, I reinstall Kontakt even kk3, but without success, this is sad days with NI, and I have deadlines.......

    Hey guys,


    I´ve got the same problem. My S88 is new and I´m working with Cubase 13 Pro. In KK all workes fine, but in Kontakt the Intruments and Plugins will not synchronize. Not only the GUI, but in general. To manipulate parameters I have to select the instruments both in Cubase and on the S88. Thats weird and useless.

    I also have updatet all Programs from Win to Hardware Connetion Service and followed the introduction for the connection with Cubase.

    Does anyone found a solution for this problem so far?

    + 1 same issue, Cubase13pro. When I create a Kontakt instance all connects (no mater which track is selected). After I select another track the connection is lost.

    To reconnect I have to open Kontakt and from File menu to tick/select KONTROL S88 MK3. Than on selecting another track the connection is lost again.
