Komplete Kontrol is now an amazing piece of rubbish

As a new MK3 owner, I was excited at the prospect of having my NI and Arturia plug-ins mapped to the controller in such an elegant way. Unfortunately, KK3 crashes whenever I click on some items in the top row of the software interfaces and ScanApp crashes on every login. None of these problems existed in the previous version of KK. I am hopeful that the problems will be resolved, but this clunky rollout is disappointing when I've been looking forward to this expensive purchase solving problems instead of creating problems.

Now that is a great question...

Well, that gives me an idea. Thanks, man!

any way to downgrade KK back? I hate 3.0.x

I would have thought that was obvious. I don’t think 3 is rubbish and I tend to think balance is valuable.

Interesting how folks can have such differing viewpoints.
You’re entitled to your “balanced” opinion regarding KK3 and the fact that you think it should be obvious to others. To me however the only obvious thing about your posting in this particular thread is that it smacks of smugness, and is verging on glorifying and wallowing in the misfortunes and dramas that other users are experiencing currently in the NI universe.
Perhaps it’s worth remembering that a forum and thread such as this one actually exists in the main for people to share their experiences, pain, anguish and to get support and help from individuals perhaps more capable than them. Not to pour scorn upon them.
I confess I have been irritated by your “off topic” comment and unhelpful remark in this particular thread. I do not normally “bite back” during exchanges on forum posts and this is the last one I will make in this thread so I wish you well and that you continue to be very happy with your workflow in the NI universe as it currently stands.
Best wishes
Hywel

Some interesting (to say the least) and insightful comments here. Not sure I have much to add in terms of current functionality, but I did try the 3.0 software with my mk2 keyboard and was rather disappointed to see they had given it the Kontakt 7 makeover. I immediately rolled back as I find the whole browser experience to be a lot less intuitive and the UI to feel claustrophobic in a sense. The mk2 firmware has also not been updated in line with the new 3.0 software.
I still don't quite understand how the mk3 hardware is so much more advanced that they couldn't have developed the mk2 firmware to control Kontakt. In fact they should have done that in Kontakt 6 to do away with the whole multi Komplete Kontrol issue once and for all.
I feel I am currently in a sweet spot nevertheless and to due to compatibility and user experience issues with the new updates and hardware, will have to stay where I am for the foreseeable future. Too big a migration for me, so likely will be looking toward the mk4 hardware before I refresh all of that. Feels like the end of an era, but 'all good things' and all that!
...And did I hear somebody say no Maschine software control with the new keyboards? Or did I just make that up? They do look pretty neat and are all great keyboards just for DAW integration alone I would say.

Installed 3.0.1 on the off chance there would be improvements. There aren’t. Liking my new Mk3 (Arturia Keylab Essentials Mk3).

I have a sneaky suspicion they are up to something over there anyhow. Possibly a new all in one DAW where you can connect your Maschine or KK mk3, which will integrate the two in a much more streamlined fashion. Based on some developer comments a year or two back, I got the idea that's where they were headed. Then the NKS 2.0 may really come into its own. Maybe,...but they will need to get the UX right.

Hi there,
when I open a Kontakt 7 or KK instance the screen on the keynoard stays on the MIDI Default Template unless I click on the S88 icon in KK or the keyboard's name in Kontakt. Same thing if I go from one channel to the other in Cubase. EVERY TIME I have to tell Kontakt or KK that I am using the S88 keyboard.
In the Studio Setup everything seems to be connected correctly.
Is anyone experiencing this kind of issue? This is VERY annoying.

How old are you?

I just don't understand why basic functionality like displaying all the instruments doesn't work any more? Why are over half my instruments no longer showing up in the browser? I can see Arturia, Native Instruments and Plugin Alliance, and that's it. Yesterday I randomly discovered that you can click on the 3 dots next to the browser icons... wow... hat's off to the NI web devs, at least everything I typed before Komplete Kontrol crashed my computer is still here lol... anyways 3 dots, instruments -> VST3 that is where the rest of the plugins are hiding. But why??? Why can't I load Diva from the MK3???

The browser shows what you have as NKS, not all plugins. Have you got the Diva NKS installed? Steinberg and Toybox plugins don't have official NKS versions so if you have installed NKS for them they will be in the user part of the browser (click the user/factory icon next to the star)

The CPU spikes totally kill creativity. Developers should always use mid-range machines...they're probably developing on 10K Macs...and then wonder why the CPU is a problem in the real world. It's unsurprising tho, with all the bloated garbage in KK3.
