Kontakt 8 stopped working

Recorded some tracks on Monday saving them ( Cubase 14 Pro is my DAW ) and shutting everything down, I tried to open the recording on Tuesday to carry on working on things Cubase opened as normal Midi tracks however got a error saying unable to find Kontakt libraries ☹️

I have tried loading the same project again and nothing loads at all now, I cant open Kontakt within my daw i can however load complete control however i cant load any intruments even though they are showing on my S49 controller.

I have reinistalled Kontakt 8 still nothing, I havent updated cubase or Windows since saving the project, havent renamed my external hard drive. Simply saved a project shut everything down and now nothing is working.

Any ideas on possible cause of this ? And more importantly how do i resolve it ?

Sounds to me like you external drive did not initialize correctly (or in a timely manner) before jumping back into a session?

Windows 11 can need up to 2-5 minutes to mount a drive in some scenarios. And just because the drive letter appears in Windows Explorer - does not necessarily mean it's ready for action.

Can you screencap the actual error message and post it here?

havent renamed my external hard drive

Does that include that the drive still has the same drive letter ?

Vocalpoint i cant get a screenshot now sorry got the error message once and now if i try to open Kontakt it looks like it trying i get no response no error message.

Understood. Without a screencap of the error (and Kontakt has hundreds) it will be hard to troubleshoot.

Next step I would suggest is to unplug your external drive, ensure that it's letter is gone from File Explorer and then restart the machine

Once it is back up - plug in the external, confirm the drive appears in Disk Manager (right click on Start and choose Disk Management).

If it looks good there - next - see if you can copy a file or create a basic text file ON the external. If that works - fire up Kontakt.

I still believe this a disk volume issue and you need to confirm that external is stable.
