This forum is unusable

So there 's a thread "have you given up on reaktor "

The thread shows there are 10 posts , and the alst post was yesterday 14-09 However , clicking on the htread it's impossible to see the last comment , no t even while navigating through it

PLease change this horrible experience , this forum is horrible to use

Took me about 1.2 secs to click the dropdown and choose Newest.

And there it was - the newest post.

I never were for the forum software change but it has not been as bad as I thought , as VP suggests then it appear as working once you know how to navigate it. I didn't find the exact match of the title "have you given up on reaktor " instead I found the "Have you really given up on Reaktor, NI?"

If you leave the sorting to the left at 'Oldest' then you can still click the little arrow to the right and then fill in e.g. 6 as page number and that way jump to the last page.

I agree. The general experience is WAY worse than the old forum IMO.

This one is slow, clunky, unintuitive, and unnecessarily complicated.

I've been using forums regularly since the 90s. This might be the worst from a usability point of view. Maybe I've just been lucky up to now 😐️

Not a fan of it either,i do the page thing,going down…seeing which page is the latest,type it in…

I tried finding the "sort by" it doesn't appear anywhere near the first post of the thread,only from the first reply,comment you can see it,then the comments appear from newest to oldest,top to bottom…the opposite way of what we are used to,usually latest post at the end.

I agree,so unintuitive and messy.

Just the simple fact that you have to enter the number of the page you want (almost 100% the last, most recent page of a thread) instead of being able to go to the last page with just one click is, sucks. And labelling the building forum "members only" stinks. My project thread didn't have much traffic as it was, but now it's basically dead because of these two things.

I agree, way worse than before.

I’ve seen it time and time again where a company’s forum is working perfectly fine for the vast majority of users, then a new supposedly better forum is introduced that either takes away basic functionality we are all used to, or makes finding the basic functionality a pain in the rear.

I hope it’s me being an idiot where I can no longer click on a thread and only see the newest posts since my last visit? Sadly I suspect a basic thing like this is not available with the new system.

All companies see, to do this, it’s as though the person getting the new forum software, doesn’t actually use it themselves.

Hey all, we are aware of some of the issues you mention. We have raised these losses of functionality and bugs to our platform provider and are trying to improve things, based on your feedback and with what we can do on our end. Unfortunately some of these changes can't be reversed so we'll need to adapt, for the rest, we'll keep pushing for changes. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Yes, it's completely unclear that the link to the builder forum is even a link. It looks more like a bad heading for the main Reaktor forum…

…One of the main problems is that NI seem (maybe I'm just too cynical) to have re-purposed the forum as a free (for them) tech support mechanism. This new platform seems geared towards that and away from true discussion. So we have the 'Questions', 'Accepted Answer' and 'Best Answer' stuff. With monthly rankings and rewards to 'encourage' folk to answer… often when they don't really know the topic.

In the past, this community had used the forum primarily for discussions over many years, and it was great for that. Mostly the discussions grew from simple questions, then rambled on for many pages. But that purpose is undermined when some post is 'accepted' as best answer, then dragged to the top, completely out of sequence from the discussion that produced it. That just kills the organic sharing of ideas, and the learning that grows from it… folk tend to skip topics that have 'Answer accepted' attached to them, so the ongoing discussion doesn't happen.

The fact that we can click on a link in the main forum and not be taken to the most recent page, then have to jump through obfuscation just to find the new post that we just clicked for is another tell-tale clue that the community wants/needs/uses the forum for one thing, but NI wants it to be something different…

…These days there are fewer folk to answer those tech support questions, and virtually no general discussion any more, unless you count complaint threads like this one.

The unofficial Discord and Facebook groups are quiet too, but at least there is still some interesting discussion at times.

It’s even worse on iPhone - the forum doesn’t seem to notify the browser the right width so you constantly have to resize it. There used to be a forum app - Tapatalk - that worked great with the NI forum, but it seems that is no longer supported

I’ll add to this that the whole idea of “off topic” is also not helping to build discussions. Specially in threads that already have many pages and the initial topic has already been discussed, I find normal that something that has been said before can create a new “parallel” discussion about something related or similar.
This is something normal in a discussion: you start from one point… then you continue with similar things… and in the end maybe you are talking about something different.

Unless, as you say, this is disturbing their “unofficial, costs free for NI support mechanism”.

And this is said by someone who came here for and spent years helping other users because I would like to have a strong community
