Action Strings 2 - rarely makes it through an entire phrase without stopping (Kontakt 8, Logic Pro)

I've had Komplete 15 Collector's edition since last year but I am only just getting around to playing with Action Strings 2.

I've got a blank Logic Pro project (48k) and have an instrument track with Kontakt 8, and then select Action Strings 2 from the library.

Either when just playing on my S88 keyboard or by drawing MIDI in to a region on the track, I can rarely get it to complete a phrase without it cutting out intermittently, or entirely.

I have a project on the horizon I'd very much like to use Action Strings 2 for.

Is this a known problem or any ideas how to solve it?

I played around with this a bit more and noticed that I had less problems if I only play one note in the midi on any single track at a time.

So if I want a polyphonic effect basically just duplicate the tracks and adjust accordingly.

I think I can progress like this.

I think it's the instrument / Kontakt, at least it was in the past for me…

Honestly, it is issues like this that have made me switch away from Kontakt years ago.

I have had several projects in the past where similar issues would always crop up with some instruments, notably some of the string and choir libraries, a note or phrase just does not play (running from SSD with all the sample options set correctly in Kontakt) or runs and cuts out, this would especially be the case when rendering out a project using Ableton but have heard the same issue in other DAWs. The most annoying problem would be when playing a chord opr having overlaps in notes and hearing them just cut short which is very noticable. THis is also somewhat random where a render will see one note cut short but a second render it is fine but another note somewhere else is cut or does not play.

In every case the fix for me was to give up and switch to something like EastWest or another similar instrument. Over the years I have just moved away from Kontakt so no idea if it has improved in the last few years but seems like you have the same issue I was seeing.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I've invested a fair chunk of money into this in part because their demos/marketing are good I suppose. I know it's sunk cost fallacy but I'd like to get some value of what I've bought before switching, especially given the hardware I also purchased.

I can't see me upgrading Kontakt again though unless this is resolved.

@ChrisBrind Sorry to hear you are experiencing this. Would it be possible for you to make a small video of the issue (s), reproduce the issue in a small Logic project and share all of that here? This way we can try a repro on our side, file a bug if necessary.
