Do I need to keep Komplete 10 Ultimate Hard Drive with installers?

Hi everyone!

Many years ago I bought Komplete 10 Ultimate, which came on a HDD. Since then I've upgraded to Komplete 14 Ultimate. Do I need to keep all the installers and stuff that came on the HDD, or can I wipe it and use it for file storage?

Nobody can predict what if.. and all cases of possible future, but seen from a general point of view then while having files on drive in theory could save you some downloading then it would not do so much anyway if libraries were updated in between , or products so old that you only use newer version of same product , and also then now you are supposed to use newest Native Access for any downloading. Also a new feature is that you now ought to be able to download mostly all your stuff from the Account downloads page , How to use the NI Download Manager(misleading title) though I can not tell if that is also OK for Komplete 10 downloads. Also in a possible future you could imagine that N.I: would remove some downloads for EOL software.

In general though my own opinion is that you have no longer much use for the drive with old files unless that you'd want to sell your license and someone found it interesting… (and you couldn't sell the license anyway if it has been used as a base for an upgrade unless selling whole upgrade stack)

I would keep it. (In facts, I’m keeping mines)

Nowadays you can find 500Gb HDD for 22€ (internal also for 15). SSDs (external or internal) for 28.

For that price, I would not erase the NI one. And I would not risk to put things on an old HDD that could even lose data

Quick TLDR answer:

No, you don't need to keep them at all if you have everything on your Native Access account, you could wipe them if you really wanted but as mentioned, for the cost why bother. Keep them as a memento of when companies use to actually sell you a physical product, a relic of a better time…

I guess, it is better to keep it. I do keep it and I even keep DVDs of even older Komplete. And I have used them recently as Native Access does not install some of the old libraries….. But authorises them, if they are installed.
