Is the Mk3 seen as the best in terms of build quality?
Are the earlier models much different/still in high demand?
I want to get one but don't know much about the differences between Mk1, 2 & 3.

support for mk1 stopped and people reported troubles with current OS versions.
same will happen for mk2 most likely at some point. MK2 is built like a tank. Mine is still going strong after 15 years, and a friend has been using it for the last years very regularly…
mk3 is not bad either, but has more tech / things that *might* break (i.e. displays, platter motor, etc)
