I have a bug of the same sort, for me the plugin scan never ends, gets frozen at the last one

Have you added any plugins? It might be a third-party plugin that's blocking it. Maschine is still having trouble with plugins.

THX for that idea however no plugins added and no issues with 3.0.1 or 3.1 before.

In the 'Preferences' can you try to deactivate the use of VST2 plugins ? To see what happens.

To skip the scan press ESCAPE as soon as the Maschine window opens on your keyboard, keep pressing until Maschine opens.

I noticed this behaviour and found that in task manager you can see 4 (occasionally 5) identically named processes (order the list of processes by name). They will have some activity but eventually the plug in scan stalls and all these 4/5 processes drop to no activity. I found ending one or more of these got the scan to continue (I started by ending the last process in the list first) and then when it had reached the last plug in (1057 plugins) and hung at that point not finishing, by ending all of those processes (all named the same) the scan completes. This is not an exhaustive piece of testing but maybe it will help point NI devs down a particular route maybe a race condition between what seems to be a threaded scan now. Let me know if I can help with more info.

I tired your method it works for completing the scan you have to end on process named something like an hexadecimal number, but it is not due to a particular VST because if i disable either VST2 or VST3 it still freezes
(Correction) You have to end something named ni plugin info. After like one or to tas
ks ended the scan shows

Regrettably nothing works:
Maschine 3.1.1 starts right away with the splash screen and status "Waiting for product scan ..." and freezes immediately.
ESC does not work and a ni-plugin-info.exe obviously isn't loaded according to task manager.
So no Maschine at least this weekend.

I know this has been marked as answered, because the manual ending of stalled 'ni-plugin-info.exe' processes does allow the scan to complete, which probably counts as a workaround, but it would be good to get some acknowledgment from NI that they recognise this as a bug which is on their backlog.
If you watch the processes while the scan is running you can see when one, or a few them 'stall'; zero %ge movement on CPU, static memory usage, zero disk activity on that specific process. End that process and another one initiates. The full scan stall happens when all 4 threads have got into this stalled state. Obviously when all 4 threads are active, things go quicker.

As I mentioned on my system it does not even start ni-plugin-info.exe. So there is nothing to end manually. 😕

It's very strange... I can't see anymore.
Maybe tried to reinitializing the Maschine database

This and reinstalling Maschine 3 are the last resorts but that will lead to the loss of all tagged groups and sounds.
I hope that after the weekend support can add some insights in this thread. Luckily I don't depend on Maschine 3 / NI.
Nevertheless: Many thanks to everyone for trying to help! 👍️
