Help! needed to create a NKS Template for 64bit VST for S Series MK2. I'm doing something wrong

Trying to create a template to use the old AAS Strum Session 2 with my KK S61. I have KK software version 3.4.0. in a Windows 11 PC environment.

I was able to use the "Dials" symbol successfully to assign the correct CC dials to the various controls in the Strum Sessions Instrument. Works fine.

The instrument uses key switches and various key regions to control the strum pattern, chord and loop info, so I used the "Midi Plug" Symbol to create three templates so I could assign different key-light colours that matched the three modes (Keyboard, Guitar and Loops) which each used the keys differently. That also works fine.

As you have probably already guessed, what I ended up with is a sitiation where I have access to the right dials when in "PlugIn" mode on he KK S61, but not the light template, or access to the three light templates when in "MIDI" mode on the keyboard - but the default Dial Mapping (which does'nt work).

So, is this a limitation of the hardware/software integration, or a limit of the end-user (me)? Is there any way to have access to the key-lights and correct dial maps?

Thanks,

Steve

You could probably do it all in MIDI mode though, map the knobs and assign the lightguide all in one MIDI template

Hey Steve, unfortunately what you are trying to achieve is not possible, unless someone managed to "hack" his/her way through this.

The MIDI template edit is only for the MIDI mode, it can't be implemented on the regular NKS Komplete Kontrol implementation.

Thanks Kymeia, I would be OK with that, and tried to do so, but when I went into the knobs and dials section of the MIDI template screen, I could not find a way to assign the dials to the appropriate CC on the S61. I should mention that my S61 is MK2, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

AS a new user of the KK keyboard, I realise that I am missing something (knowledge!). The process for assigning the dials under the Dials / Knobs icon (non midi) is intuitive, but I was unable to do the same within the MIDI editing screens for knobs. I found the manual a bit tricky as it seems to refer to icons, options and menus relating to a different version of Kompleter Kontrol (SW).

I'll give it another try, but if you know of a tutorial somewhere which explains the process of assigning (for example) CC 14 - 17 to the ADSR dials on the Software instrument, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know..

    Thanks for your advice.

Update (Not sure how to edit an existing post yet) -

Sorry Kymeia, I was looking in the wrong place. I have since found out how to do this.

Each option in the instrument (Keyboard, Guitar, Loop) has a different keyboard layout, and slightly different knobs, so I'm currently tryng to accommodate the different knobs per template. I'm guessing there's no way to switch templates depending on the mode chosen (i.e. so I don't need to go back into the KK software to change templates)?

    Thanks again,

    Steve
