MK2 S49 keyboard keys don't are out of wack

I bought (for very cheap) this keyboard off someone who had given up saying it didn't turn on. It now does turn on. But my firmware doesn't update. It connects really nicely with Komplete Kontrol software and screens work. The sliders work too.. not really sure if all the lights on the top work. But currently the biggest issue is that the keys are completely out of wack. I don't get what's going on but it seems it's a software issue.

Pressing one key (let's say the very bottom C) plays Ab on the upper end of the keyboard (second octave down from the top). Only the bottom 4 and top 4 keys actually play a sound, but when I change the Octave level on the whole keyboard more notes start to work across the keyboard. I can't figure out a pattern.

As I said, I'm trying to do a firmware update, but I can't seem to be able to get it to happen, I've tried tuning off and on and restarting the update, it gets to that error message again.

Would appreciate help!
