Linear recording on arrangement timeline?

I sold my Maschine so I can't check… :(

In theory, I want to add audio recordings of my external HW synths across the timeline. I think 'clips' is the thing I need for this, except they are midi only?

If so, how would I go about doing this? Is it an awkward/unintuitive workaround I presume?

Will there be an update to bring Maschine more in line with the MPC arrangement DAW-type view/workflow?

I could just buy a MPC Live but I think they are ghastly things.

    I do this all the time. You need to add an audio plugin to a blank sound. Make sure you're in clip mode. Go to sampler, record your sound, and then when you go back to song mode, your clip should be there.

    Clips works great in the timeline. I can record my synth jam along with my song idea and then chop or whatever is needed.
