Is it good time to sell my NI hardware

I have some NI hardware that I dont use a lot anymore but that I keep because I still love it and hope for NI to actually make it evolve : Maschine+, Maschine jam, Komplete kontrol MK2 and Kontrol M32.

But with recent events and announcements I begin to wonder if it's not the good time to sell it all.

I'm now using a MPC live2 and a Launchkey so NKS and NI sounds will be soon covered.

And the level of non commitment from NI to its products makes me think they could soon be abandoned…

What do you think ? Good time to push the button ?

all the products you mentioned have basically been abandoned by NI.

They present not have abandoned M+ and Maschine but it’s a big fat lie in my opinion. Anything they can’t monetise they won’t do or put one person on to do some bug fixing in their overtime…

I keep saying M+ is the best classic MPC, but you really have to be into exporting stems from a groove box that could just enable a very comprehensive Live Set export feature. And staying in the box is not an option either as most of the tools are too primitive and poor to not have to move your projects into a proper DAW at some point. Would be slightly different if they at least had audio over usb so you could multitrack performances without tying together two separate audio interfaces.

Most of those have lost so much of their value on the second hand market, it would probably be a better idea to keep them. The prices may recover if NI is bought by another company or goes through another corporate reorg. These devices may be included in software development or release to third party developers in a turnaround, which I think is inevitable at this point.

I ended up putting everything up for sale, which was heartbreaking because I still think Maschine's workflow is fundamentally excellent, and the build quality makes these instruments a pleasure to play.

But I'm switching to MPC and I don't want to have a whole bunch of duplicates. Plus I have the feeling that NI's policy from now on is that “users will be happy with whatever we throw at them”.

In spite of everything I have a lot of respect for the NI employees who communicate with us on this forum. You get the feeling that they're making a big effort here, and that they're trying to do as much as possible with what little resources they have.
